Hungarian Fiddle Tunes for Violin is a great book to expand your fiddling horizons!
Hungary has a great folk music tradition, including its fiddle music, which provided Bela Bartok and other composers of the 20th century with wonderful thematic material for their classical music compositions. This book provides a great opportunity for those of us outside Hungary to experience some of the magic of Hungarian fiddle music. Nicely printed, great page layout!

Ordered New and received Used
I ordered for a brand new copy. I paid the $23.99 for new. I received a damaged and well love copy. The disc showed signs of being handled, but it still works. I feel I should be refunded to the cost of a used version.

Not a good source for someone who wants to learn authentic Hungarian folk music
I had an opportunity to take a look through this volume when one of my Hungarian folk music students brought it to a lesson. This book is clearly targeted at the international folk music scene, where musicians often play only one or two songs from each country. However, in real Hungarian folk music, musicians string together many songs from a single village to form a "tancrend," which accompanies the dance from that village. This book presents a random assortment of songs from many different villages, and you can't form a tancrend out of them. Furthermore, the source material is usually not original field recordings, but '80s and '90s era revival recordings that would have been based on those recordings, but do not always accurately reproduce the original sounds. If you are interested in learning Hungarian folk music, I would recommend buying Beata Salamon's "Magyar népzenei dallamgyűjtemény" (Hungarian folk music song collection), which gives you six complete tancrend, and which would be an excellent starting point for someone new to Hungarian folk music who already knows how to play the violin. Her book is based on authentic sources, and someone who studies the whole book would be armed with a significant repertoire of the most popular Hungarian dances.

melodies decevantes
