Wonderful Stories for Children and Adults
I bought the book for a college course and greatly enjoyed it. I did purchase the audiobook version (along with the book), and I highly recommend it. The style and way it's read adds so much to the dynamics of the story.

Perfect, great! Brigs back boyhood memories.
Brought back childhood memories of my favorite stories. Wonderful treasure to hand down to my grandchildren with appropriate discussion.

Good "translation" from the dialect
Good "translation" from the dialect; each story roughly 2.5 pages long; just right for reading to a child (or oneself) at bedtime. These stories have gotten caught in pc battles, and that's a shame because they are part of our cultural literacy.

"That's what Uncle Remus said......."
I was brought up as a toddler listening to my mother read me the tales of Brer Rabbit. It may not be the most popular book on the market because of it's political correctness thing, but these characters are lovable and my grandson loved them. If you remember the Disney movie, "The Song of the South," it was made around the books' characters.

Finally! Uncle Remus as he always ought to have been: Brer Rabbit Without a side of condescension
Julius Lester's retelling take all of the cheesy language and 19th century ideas of race in the Harris telling, and retells Uncle Remus' stories in a hilarious but respectful way. These are funny, entertaining and empowering tales.Hint: read the story to yourself and figure out the wording before reading it aloud.
