My first experience with the Lily cup
Hello! This is my first time using a lily cup, I'm 23 and I've been researching this baby for over a year. I had my doubts and concern but for the most part most women seem pleased with it. And I wanted to move away from the tampon anyways.MY EXPERIENCE:So I bought this 2 days before my period started and it arrived on Day 1 of my period. I wasn't bleeding too much and I was actually having trouble putting the cup in(I actually didn't fold it right lol) so at first I was abit worried. The next night I started bleeding more heavily so I opted for a second try, (WITH THE CORRECT FOLDING TECHNIQUE) she slide right in with no problems. This was before I trimmed the stem, and only by using the lily cup I realized my cervix sits kinda high up. When I walked around I could feel the stem, it wasn't uncomfortable but I definitely knew it was there, if I was sitting I couldn't feel it, although when I sneezed I could feel it move lol. Now, on the morning of Day 3, I decided I need to pull it out and clean it since I wore it to sleep, I have to tell you I was having extreme difficulties pulling out the cup. I tried to pull on the stem but it was so high up and my fingers were getting really slippery so I would fail every time. I did a deep squat and tried to move my vaginal muscles to push it downwards and it would move down just an inch but not enough for me to grab. I panicked for abt 45 minutes, I looked up how to remove it and it said to keep your body relaxed. Trust me I was freaking out at this point. I was worried I was going to have to ask my boyfriend to help me, but after another 15 minutes or so I was able to calm down and literally(in the deep squatting position) force my muscle to push the cup down. It took several tries but when it was finally long enough for me to grab I used a small piece of toilet paper to grab and pull the sucker out.Once out I dumped the blood and cleaned it and then with a lot of thought I inserted back in.FINAL THOUGHTS: I do love the lily cup, but the only thing that I had troubles with was taking it out. The first night was great but the morning after was terrifying lol. I clean out my cup every 8 hours just to be on the safe side, I still have troubles with it and sometimes I think a tampon would be easier, but I didn't pay $40 for nothing lol. I know I am still new to this so once I can get my body to just push it out without thinking is when I know I'll be able to use this forever, but until then I may have to deal with mini panic attacks that it's lost in the abyss lol.EDIT: 8/9/18I have been using this same cup for 2 years! This cup has definitely saved me time from going to buy a pack of tampons and I don't have to worry about if I'll overflow, never have I once overflowed with this. Like in my early review I usually take it out every 8 hours, 10-11 if I'm lazy and I don't have much issue with pulling it out. I still have to use a small piece of toilet paper but thats not a big deal, I've come to realize that if the cup unfolds, before I completely insert it, and I still shove it in, I will have major cramps. So I've been careful to not do that. I believe it's something with not having enough air so the cup suctions tightly and can cause pain. But other than that I've been careful to not let it unfold. So you would imagine that having this cup for over 2 years that it would be stained and yes it has been stained GREATLY. I wish I had pictures to show but I do boil it every once in a while and after that I bought a cheap walmart spin brush for like $7 and I would use summer's Eve soap to clean it and it takes a little bit, but running it under warm water and using the spin brush can definitely clear up the stain. I know you can use other soap but Summer's Eve is good to me and doesn't irritate my skin so I would assume using it on a product that goes into my clown hole would be the best thing lmao.

Learn from my 4 years of menstrual cup mistakes
I used the Diva cup for about three years before I decided to try something new. The Diva cup was fine... it never leaked but it wasn’t exactly comfortable. The description suggested I needed the larger size (I’m over 30 and have no children) but I always suspected I needed a smaller size because it didn’t quite feel right.I read the reviews of several cups and decided to try the Lena cup. This time I ordered the smaller size. Big mistake. The Lena cup is firmer than the already firm Diva cup and they both have a thick lip around the top, which made them both unpleasant to remove. What’s worse, I leaked profusely for the first three days of my period, almost like I wasn’t even wearing a cup. I tried different insertion methods and nothing worked. After four months of battling the Lena cup, I did a lot of research. I read that different cups work for different women because of the position of the cervix. I’ve tried finding my cervix before (after reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility) but never felt it, so when I read that some women have a high cervix I suspected this might be me. I also read that the cervix is in its lowest position on the first day of your period so when my next period started, I felt for it. Sure enough, it was there but it was way up there. The Lily cup is longer, softer, and narrower so I thought it may be the answer to my mentrual cup woes. Inserting it on day 1 was a little different than the others because it’s so much longer. After a couple attempts, I thought I had it in place. I dumped it twelve hours later and what happened surprised me... there was no bloody mess. I always got blood all over my fingers when dumping and cleaning the Diva cup and I looked like a field surgeon in wartime when dumping the Lena cup (blood EVERYWHERE). Cleaning is way easier with the Lily cup because the blood is completely contained in the cup with nothing on the outside. No matter which cup I use, it rarely feels like it opens up all the way inside me. That was still the case with the narrower Lily cup but I think it fit right below my cervix so it didn’t matter.Did I mention how much less blood there is with the Lily cup? There’s not even any in the vaginal canal, it’s all contained in the cup. After four years of wearing cups, I can’t believe I didn’t know this was possible. The mess made me dread going to the bathroom, I hated the messy process and the discomfort trying to pull the others out with the thick ring around the lip. It’s a completely different experience with the Lily cup, no discomfort and almost no mess.Every body is different so this cup won’t work for everyone. But if you try a cup and it’s uncomfortable (either wearing it or removing it) or if you leak, don’t put up with it. Try another one. And definitely check for the position of your cervix on the first day of your period... if it’s high or tilted, there are cups made specifically for you. Check out putacupinit.com for great info.
