STILL the best wool boot sock, even though they're not as thick as a few years ago.
My husband is a logger, working year-round in the woods. During the summer months, he's comfortable with the "Fox River Wick Dry Northwest Extra-Heavyweight Over-the-Calf Boot Socks, 7587". But come the other wet and cold fall, winter, and spring in the Pacific Northwest, these "Fox River Outdoor Sox Mid Calf Sock for Men Thermal Boot Socks" are the only thing worth wearing. He's tried socks from REI, Bass Pro Shops, Carharrt, and so many other places and NONE of them are worth wearing after a few washes (stiff, shrunken to fit the dog, uncomfortable, lack of padding, etc.). The Fox River Thermal Boot Socks are mainly wool but with a few other fibers blended in to keep them soft, wash after wash, and comfortable. My husband's feet stay warm through some of the wettest and moderately cold weather around, hunting in Eastern Oregon (lots of snow and cold) and Northern Arizona (dry cold), and working long hours in the Oregon Coast Range (wet, wet, and more wet). They are thick enough to be well padded but no too thick for his work and hunting boots and they hold up well. The only cons for the sock are what others have mentioned. This isn't the sock it used to be:- less wool content than in the past- not as thickly padded in heel and bottom of the foot as before- not quite as sturdy- my main problems have become a "run" in the knitted sock, usually right under the bottom blue band or an actual hole developing in the heel or toe area in less than a year. That said, I just bought 4 pair here and will be buying another 4 tonight. Still the best I can find for the job!

Getting spendy
They are good socks and keep your feet from smelling. But getting pricy.

Truly as good as wool socks get. Perfect sizing as expected. The best!
These don't need another review but being so happy I couldn't resist. I really like thick wool socks, They are so comfortable year round. I have been buying wool socks for decades and have tried many different styles and brands. Many socks advertise as wool yet their wool content is very low and they don't perform correctly. Other brands advertise all sorts of high tech features, charge a fortune and still fall short. These socks are the real deal, true thick wool socks. They fit awesome, they wear well. They perform flawlessly. Not too tight, not too large, not too small, all around great and good price also. I started stocking up on these for future needs. They feel so good with boots, they reduce fatigue when on your feet for long periods. A few years ago I tried to buy some wool socks at a popular outdoors store, waste of time and money. These are the best!

NO, DO NOT BUY THESE SOCKS
Disappointed. These socks are deceptively un-fit. The sock foot is unfit, very wide and very loose. NOT WELL MADE. Amazon sources and sell mostly GARBAGE products. SUPPORT UNIONS. Buy local and independent products.

OK wool blend Socks for cold Weather
Worn for hunting multiple times this past Fall in very cold weather. Have worn many times for walking outside this Winter. Not all that much warmer than other socks that have less wool content but cost less. Adequate, by themselves, for walking with boots on. When stiting still while hunting in sub 30 degree Fahrenheit temps, they need to be doubled tripled up with other socks. My feet are particularly susceptible to getting cold when sitting still outside in cold weather for more than 30 minutes, so I may not be the fairest judge of the efficacy of these socks. On the plus side, they are comfortable and seem, so far, to hold up quite well to handwashing in cold weather and air drying. No excessive fraying/thinning out. I think they will last 2-3 seasons.
