I've actually bought all 3 scents to see which we liked best. First off
This is not clumping litter. So if you are looking for clumping or clay litter, this is not for you. I have 3 cats and we were looking to transition to a more eco friendly litter and with all the different reviews on this product I thought I'd give it a try. I've actually bought all 3 scents to see which we liked best. First off, there is really no odor control for the solid waste. You should understand that before buying this. The best way to control the odor for the solid waste is to scoop it out. But we were pretty amazed at how well it controlled the urine smell. For practical purposes we had to have one of our litter boxes in the bathroom and with the old clay litter, it just smelled of litter and the cat urine. But with the Ecopine, it's near nonexistent. A nice change to be honest for someone who was just resigned to the ammonia smell. You don't have to scoop the urine spots, only give the litter a good mixing at least once a day. We try to do it twice since we have so many cats. Also the litter lasts about 4 weeks among the 4 boxes we have, but I recently adopted one of the other reviewers advice about not using an entire box at a time. The litter starts out as little rocks of pine and crystals of lavender or carbon, depending on which you bought, that degrade to saw dust with use. So it looks like there isn't much but expands like crazy. When it's nearing the end and the litter is almost all saw dust, our cats would kick it up more and out of the box. By only using half the box at a time, it needs changing more often, every 2 weeks or so, but there is less litter outside the box. There isn't much tracking this way either. But there is way less dust. So we tried all three scents: the pine/original just smells of pine but less so towards the end; didn't find the lavender pleasant either in the end; like the carbon one the best. It seems to help with the solid waste smell the best if the cats have buried it and we think it smells less like litter than the other two in our bathroom. We introduced the new litter one box at a time until we transitioned all the boxes to pine from the clay. They were curious at first and just sniffed at it all but once they started using it we changed each box in succession. Hope that helps you with your decision.

Great litter.
My favorite litter so far. I have 3 cats and all 3 took to the litter right away. I have 2 litter boxes set up. It lasts easily 3 weeks without changing. No odor. I remove solids daily and stir. I throw solids away- I don't flush. Not sure if this is flushable but very little litter adheres to the solids. And the litter doesn't stick to the pan. It absorbes odors but does not have a strong scent or perfume. Seems to smell like sawdust and is the consistency of ground up wood meets gravel. Caution...don't step on a stray piece with barefoot. Ouch. I have not noticed dust. I keep a folded towel in front of the box to catch any tracked pellets. In comparison to the other 40 different types of litter I have tried this is a great litter.

Best. Litter. Ever.
What do you dislike about most cat litters on the market? It's heavy. It's dusty. It's expensive. It's too perfumey. It doesn't control odor. It sticks to the box. It doesn't last long enough... And those are just some human complaints! Try reasoning with a cat who absolutely refuses to step into what you believed was a fresh, clean, pleasant place to poo...Ecopine solves ALL these problems for me and my cats. It is the best litter I've ever used by far, and I highly recommend it for all cat parents. I am switching forever! Try it and you will too!

In a one month comparison- Ecopine is the clear loser
Comparing Ecopine Carbon Formula to Tidy Cat Multiple Cat clay clumping litter and Fresh News recycled newsprint pellets.I had a litter box of each of these out at the same time over a month. I have two cats. The cats used them all pretty equally at first, then slowly begin to use the Ecopine less.TRACKINGEcopine: Tracks EVERYWHERE. I consistently found little pine shavings in a different room from the litter box where the cats like to sit. So the shavings stick to their paws and come off later.Tidy Cat: Tracks a little, mostly right around the litter box where they jump out and within a foot of two from the box.*Fresh News: Almost never tracks, once in a while there will be a pellet or two within a foot or two of the box. Wins with low tracking.SCOOPINGEcopine: Very hard to scoop- the pee just makes a wet mushy area that you can get out with the scoop, but only by taking all surrounding dry litter out with it, if you try to shake off the dry litter, the wet litter gets shaken off too. When scooping the poop, it doesn't go through the scoop very well, so once again, it is hard to just take out the poop without throwing out a ton of dry litter.*Tidy Cat: Easy to shake off the dry for both pee and poop. Wins with scooping.Fresh News: Pretty easy to just pick up the poop as the pellets are so big they don't stick, but you still end up throwing out some clean pellets. However with pee, since it doesn't clump and you just have a bunch of soaked paper pellets, you have to scoop up the whole area, throwing away quite a few dry pellets to get all the wet pellets. easy to miss some of the wet pellets as well.DUSTEcopine: VERY DUSTY. I originally bought this as a comparison as I hated how dusty Tidy Cats was - but this is just as dusty, if not a little MORE dustyTidy Cats: VERY DUSTY. The whole reason I begin trying other litters.*Fresh News: Definite winner in this category. Not dusty at all.PRICEEcopine: $10/one month*Fresh News: $15/ two month- tie win with Tidy Cats*Tidy Cats: $14/ two month- tie win with Fresh NewsCAT PREFERENCEMy cats aren't that picky when it comes to litter boxes, but it seems as time went on over the month, they slowed and eventually stopped using the Ecopine, but continued to use the Tidy Cat and Fresh News.In conclusion, Ecopine not only doesn't win in any category, but clearly LOSES in ALL categories. Therefore 1 star. We will continue to have litter boxes available to the cats with Tidy Cat and Fresh News as they both are best in some categories, and one cat seems to prefer one and the other cat seems to prefer the other but will not be using anymore Ecopine- as no one, including me, likes that litter.
