So I used these while reseeding my yard after shaving it down. I wore old tennis shoes but boots would have been better.Product took a few minutes to put together. Very self explanatory but the directions will get you there if your struggling. (Directions also need a good proofread but it made me laugh)Overall product was fairly sturdy. One Small plastic clasp that help keep them tight did end up snapping on me but I got around that and just put a knot in the strap.My only gripe about this is that the straps would loose a up even after “locking” them down. It did come with an extra optional strap. This strap has a good locking strap and I just wrapped it through the center strap holes and tightened it down tight and this fixed the loosening problem.My reseeded yard seemed to grow extra fast this year not sure if this was the real fix or not but it’s way better then paying for a machine or having someone do it for a few hundred bucks.Very short Learning curve to learn to walk around in them. I will use them again.

While you might not want to use these to aerate your whole yard--it would take a good deal of time--these shoes are fantastic for aerating areas that may be browning, or areas you plan to reseed. (I on the other hand see significant savings in this DIY solution!) Set up took 10 minutes and ample spikes and nuts, as well as a wrench and a spare strap were all included. These easily fit over my size US12 sneakers. Though I weight around 200 pounds, these went into my Florida sandy soil as easy with just my bare hand. Aeration for my yard cost $189 last year. If you have the time, these shoes give you the ability for ~$30 to aerate year after year...a true money saver!

The build quality is very good. Product arrived on time and complete. Some assembly required (the spikes need to be attached to both shoes, as well as inserting the shoe straps (with buckles). Its takes a little adjustment walking in them, but the instructions in the package were helpful and in no time I had aerated the entire yard (1/4 acre) with them.

This product is very well-made. Solid steel spikes.Assembly required!!! Sandal buckles are made of metal, not shiny plastic. Which is what most buckles are made of today.I use them while push mowing the grass. Keeps me from looking like a crazy, yard obsessed, home owner stomping around there yard.P.S.Don’t walk around your trees too hard or you might get stuck on a fat root or two. The spikes are sharp!!!

Directions for assembling the straps are not easy to follow and take time to get them on and off and are difficult to tighten. They don't stay on the shoe or boot as well as expected making it difficult to pull spikes out of the ground without losing your balance. I have a very small area to aerate, so I kept them.

The online photo shows 8 spikes/sandal. Description mentions 28 spikes (13/sandal & 2 extras). It has 13/sandal. Except, my shipment arrived w/o the spikes. Amazon shipped another pair Special D. Had heard that the spikes often break free from the sandals so I put a flat washer on top of each spike hole & a lock washer underneath each hole. The front strap is way too short for my size 11 shoe so I placed a full length insole on each sandal (because of the elevated spike heads) & wore sweat socks. Fit perfectly. Velcro straps would have been much easier to use. Worked perfectly.

I can see this product working, however not so good on Texas clay. Use for small patch work.
