The good part is that the beads sound exactly like they did in 4th grade. :) The bad part is that after reading around I decided that since I'm 5'2", I should get the 8 foot rope. Bad move because the rope is only 8' long if you go from tip of handle to tip of handle. The rope itself (between the handles) is only 6'10", and there's no way I can clear my feet, no matter what style I use (speed, cross, reverse, freestyle, etc.). And there are no returns in this. Good thing it's close to Christmas, I can donate it to Toys for Tots. But how irritating!! If you bought the rope too long you can easily move the knot holding it on the handles, shortening the rope, but if it's too short, you're stuck. Go long.

I had bought a regular "rope" type jump rope for my grandkids but it had no weight to it so it made it difficult for them to jump without tripping on the rope. But this one is perfect because the plastic beads on the rope give it the right weight to keep the motion going and the speed going without the kids tripping. And delivery was very fast.

I bought this for myself last year for those times when I felt like using the jump rope as part of my workout or if I just felt like jumping rope. Honestly it reminds me of the playground ones I used as a kid. I totally think the rainbow colors are fun, which is why I went with this one, it's been holding up well, and the handles have even held up to my son chewing on them. The jump ropes we got for our daughter from the store the handles cracked from said chewing. So I think this is a decent jump rope. I don't use it extensively, but it works well, was a great length for me, and seems durable.

We JUST received the package. The rope does not measure 8 feet. We used the guidelines in the description to order the length my 5th grader needed- and ordered a size bigger- knowing we could shorten it. It's cheap, flimsy- and no where near 8 feet long. Far too short for her to use. I tried to immediately return it- and it said my return window had closed April 18, 2017- in the future. I have emailed Amazon to question how to return the product. I spent the $9.99 assuming it was higher quality than some of the ones listed for $5.99. Nope.

I bought this for my daughter. She was trying to jump rope with a piece of twine. the twine sucked as it had no weight to it and didn't swing around as needed. I remembered these segmented Jump Ropes from school and thought it would be perfect.This arrived fast as always. this is nice bright and colorful. My childs favorite color is purple so perfect. I got the smallest one as she is short and just 4.she kinda has tried to jump but needs help learning, i get it, it is a process. So she hasnt exactly USED this, she has tried to use it.My daughter has asked me to do it for her. but because of the size it is to short for mom who is 5'3"I may get a second one for me so i can do it with her.This is a good product. the segmented plastic on it gives it that weight it needs to swing around.

It gets 5 stars for what it is - not its steller construction - Old school (really like in a playground in the 70s) jump rope. If you are looking for a good one for your kid or something to bun some calories without spending the $$$ of fitness ropes this is a good choice. If you are not sure on length order the longer one, very easy to shorten and you can let it back out later just by removing the colored tubes and adding knots in the handles.

This jump rope was such a disappointment. The beads are much lighter than the jump rope I had like this as a child. And the manufacturer is so cheap they didn’t even fill the entire length of the rope with beads- see picture. Not a fluke either, because I ordered two and both had the same amount of exposed rope. If I had picked these up in a store there is NO WAY I would’ve bought them.

I started with a "fast speed cable" then tried an old fashioned leather rope, finally settled on this. It literally blows the others out of the water across the board. It's correctly weighted, dirt cheap, easy to see in dim light, and durable.This reminds me of the jump ropes I used in elementary school, and I can see why it's the default: it simply works better then the other varieties. Save your money, don't fall for the gimmicky exercise jump ropes that cost three times as much and don't work as well. Just get this and enjoy it.
