Love Asterix. Period.

Who does not love Asterix?

I love all the Asterix books which I have read and reread for years and I enjoyed this one too.I gave this four stars instead of five because I have enjoyed more the former Asterix books where there is a book long adventure, not the little shorter stories in this book, but it was still funny and also interesting to read the little sections where the author and the wife of the late Goscinny let us in on their thinking. My adult children enjoyed the Asterix books when they were young for the adventure, but as they grew older, they were able to find even more humor in the books because they could catch even more of the play on words that the more vocabulary you have the more humor you see. So glad Uderzo is still writing books even though his fellow author Goscinny passed away. Hope he will write another Asterix and Obelix adventure.

Big fan of Asterix and Obelix.

This book is a collection of Asterix and Obelix strips that first appeared in newspapers and magazines. Most are about 3-4 pages long. Whilst not as satisfying as the full length books, the stories still contain gems. Some are by both Goscinny and Uderzo, and some are by Uderzo only (written after Goscinny's death). As usual, the collaborative efforts of Goscinny and Uderzo are generally better than those written only by Uderzo.My 10 year-old son initially rejected the book (he is a huge Asterix fan), but came back to it a little later and enjoyed the stories. The short stories were ideal for my 8 year-old, who doesn't yet have the attention span to appreciate a whole book, but still wants to read "Dogmatix" stories.

This is a collection of stories rather than just one but if you are hooked on Asterix & Obelix this is a must for your collection.
