Los Chileros Organic Chile Ancho Powder, 2 Ounce Packages

Chile powder has a number of uses. Obviously, homemade chile comes immediately to mind. However, many rubs for various cuts of meat do not contain chili powder and on the right cuts, for example a pork loin, or pork ribs, chile powder is a welcome addition. Chile powder is also great in stews and I use it regularly for that application. What is so nice about Chile Ancho Powder is that it is derived from the poblano pepper that has been dried. If you want great chile flavor without a very hot burn, this Los Chileros Ancho provides just the right level of 'warmth'. The taste adds that nice and very mildly hot chile taste, but will not leave you unable to appreciate the full flavor of whatever you use it in/on, since it isn't overpowering. One use that many people never think of is topping off a cup of hot cocao with chile powder and once again, the mildly hot taste is perfect for this. What a great twist to a very common drink. Should chile powder with more of a 'kick' be desired, I reach for Badia, which for me is a high quality brand in the field of spices. Of course, if you want something very, very hot, the powder made from the Chile de Arbol peppers will fit the bill. Chile Jolokia.....not for me. This is absolutely blazing hot. I hope this helps!!

I bought this to make spicy hot cocoa but now I find that I'm using in place of the chili powder I had been using. I enjoy the flavor so much more. I think this is going to be my stock chili powder from now on. I might try a few different kinds as this is my introduction to ancho chili powder just for comparison. Don't get me wrong I am very pleased with the taste. It's already improved some of my favorite dishes.

WONDERFUL Ancho chili powder - I use it in homemade chili, refried beans, fajitas, and anything else that needs that southwestern flavor. The flavor is smoky and spicy with just the right amount of zing and heat. This chili powder is a regular in our home.

Great Price and Fresh Tasting, quality product. Ancho Chile Powder is used in many Mexican dishes and has that great "pepper" taste without being too spicy or "hot".

So far I have only used it once but very pleased with the product. It certainly was an enhancement to the dish I was cooking.
