The string is elastic very cheap elastic, its great for costume but not for everyday wear.

The perfect gift for a seven-year-old InuYasha fan. Before Christmas, for months my son had been running around the house pretending that he was InuYasha while his sister pretended she was Kagome. Come the morning of Christmas needless to say they both had something to make their imaginations more fevered with playing out the role of their favorite characters! The necklace itself is very durable, and to be honest if my son hasn't broken it yet, then I'm sure it can withstand any punishment from a child within reason.

The item I received has no clasp, and won't fit over the gift recipient's head. Kind of embarrassing... I'm going to have to re-string the entire necklace. I mean, $6 for the beads is still a pretty good price, I'm just a little disappointed.
