Very Poor Quality
Just taking this out of the box it was very clear the quality is poor on the casting, coating, movement, etc. The weight is there, just no pride in the product that is being produced. I expected much more from HHIP even though it is not a super high end vise. The pictures show where the casting was repaired, pitted, and grinded to try to make this acceptable. You can make your own opinion after looking at what I recieved. Spend your money elsewhere, the HFS 6" vise I put on my Enco mill was very nice.

OK for a home/hobby shop.
Upon arrival, I placed it on my mill for evaluation. Not good. One would think that with the index mark at 90 degrees, it could be zeroed in parallel with the table. Not. I had to grind/widen the bolt slots in the base. Also, the top surface of the fixed jaw was 0.002" higher at one end than the other. So, while grinding the slots, I took the time to do what I should have done in the first place--that is take it apart and stone the surfaces and lubricate everything (it arrived dry). When putting it back together, I noticed that the center pin in the base that the vise rotates around can and did drop down and not enter the hole in the vise. So I pounded it back up into place and now it swivels properly. That probably was the whole reason for the original problem, not the bolt slots.Summing up, now it is a reasonably accurate tool. The top of the fixed jaw is within 0.0005" and the face is trued up parallel with the table at the ends of the jaw. Oddly, the center of the jaw is not flat (dished) between 0.0005" - 0.0007". I don't know why that is. But I guess it is good enough for what I need it for. This is an OK vise for a hobby shop like mine, but a real pro machinist might not be happy with it. On the positive side, it cost a lot less that the fine ones.

The quaility is no longer there. Don't bother if you need a good vise.
There are the worst vises I have ever used. I bought two with the intention of mounting them side by side. First problem is if you cannot use them without the swivel base. If you try to bolt them down without the base they will warm and will no longer clamp. My older 6" vise by the same company(HHIP) works great without the swivel base. It has more meat in it and much better built. These are cheap junk.Second problem is when mounting them side by side they are 0.0115" difference in height. This makes them unusable without shimming. The workmanship and general quality has gone away with these vises. The old ones I have use 10+ years old. Work great to this day. These were junk out of the gate. They made them with so much less material it compromised the usability.Don't waist your money.

Happy 1 year anniversary.....not
At just over 1 year old the back solid mounted portion of the jaws broke off. I have not yet figured out how to contact the manufacturer to find out if they will replace it and stand by the product they make. I myself work in manufacturing so I understand that things go wrong sometimes, and I also understand that even if a product is out of our written warranty, if it's a blatant flaw in manufacturing we still replace the damaged goods If for no other reason but to get back the broken parts for inspection.

Big, solid, good vise for the money
This vise is a bit large for my mill (G0463), but bigger is always better. The quality is great for an import vise. There will be some variation from the photos. Mine has a polished handle, not painted. It weighs about 50 lbs with the swivel base, so be careful when you're putting it on your mill's table. I use it without the swivel base with the supplied T-nuts. I had to grind the sides of the T-nuts to get them to fit 7/16" T-slots.

Quality
Awesome product, works well with my PM-25MV mill and all parts fit. Had to clean and grease but you have to do that with all machine parts. Well satisfied.

Great vice for benchtop mill/drils
Wonderfully made and reasonably priced. Just perfect for use with a bench top mill/drill. holds great. The only thing I miss is a Vee cut in one face to hold round stock. The keyways on the bottom fell true to the table and perfect alignment. I haven't used the turning base but it appears to be well made.

Excellent finish and clamping strength
Ok the vise is technically made in china, however everything on it is beautifully ground and very square. I checked the squareness with my mitutoyo block sets and it closes perfectly every time. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a primary vise for hobby or light industrial use.
