Four, and slowly dropping -- plot's being stretched out a bit too much...
Still a "4-minus", though I'm getting a bit tired of the "whiny, drama queen" main character, who continues to, at least mentally, try to return to his "normal" family life, impossible as his family is no where near "normal". His "late teens, pretending to be adolescent" attitude makes him more than a bit unlikable at times. He does seem to be (slowly) moving beyond "romantically staring into her eyes as the house burns down around him", something that should have been washed out of his line genetically while roaming plains filled with lions,I'm still pondering the "why's" of the insertion of this book. Justin Slade, infected with the vampire virus, goes to magic school in attempts to cure himself. While at school, he meets his sister, who's supposedly his opposition in the series end-game and, actually strikes up somewhat of a friendship. His magic training is at the rudimentary level, being placed in classes with students less than half his age. He appears to learn very little, though his school placement does put him in position to stymie (or help, difficult to tell) an age-old plot & adversary. He also gets cured in the end, though his education plays no role beyond putting him in the right place (at the wrong time?)...

This is a great continuation of the series
This is a great continuation of the series. With each book, Justin meets new foes, makes new friends, and we learn more about the crazy arcane world he lives in. The overarching story gets deeper and darker with the players involved having more at stake than we knew before. Justin keeps learning new things and bringing more people along for the crazy ride. Even his enemies have a grudging respect for his bumbling headlong way of getting things done. This book will tie up a loose end or two for those that have been following along, but it also leaves more to follow.

Another Awesome and FUN read
John keep writing like this and I'll keep buying your books. Love the story. This would make such an awesome syfy tv series. Movies tend to cram everything into 1.5hrs this book is already crammed and it's constant flow moves from one scene to the next everything is going on and you just can't read fast enough to find out what happens next. There are more mind blowing twists and heart wrenching drama. The humor is great and the geek theme is constant. Well worth the $4 and I have bought every book in this series. A big thanks to proper editing made this a smooth fun read.

I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book. like some of the other reviews i do wish there had been more movement with the main conflict from the other books, but still enjoyed the school aspect of it.I also really enjoyed the break from the main relationship, its fine if Justin and Elyssa are sooo in love, but it gets old pretty fast. Getting to see some of the other characters interact without that dynamic was nice.I would only really recommend this if you are a fan of urban fantasy / teen books and have tackled the others in the series. (Sweet Blood of Mine is the first).

Good Pacing, Excellent Read.
I have to be honest and say i hesitated to purchase this book as the last two books seemed to follow virtually the same plot line. However, the overall story and writing have been excellent so i decided to take a chance. The plot definetly moves on from previous books (no mirroring of previous plot lines). Pacing is excellent with plenty of action, drama and yes even some romance(but not too much). I do not want to put in spoilers, so i will just say that some previously unfinshed plot lines are resolved, some are continued and some new ones introduced. Definetly worth reading!!

Great series
This book wraps up a lot of the storyline, leading to the "lines in the sand are drawn" for the big war of good vs evil (and you hope that the protagonists chose the right side). The author keeps his heroes developing slowly enough to nor run into the "all powerful superman" trap where you have to come up with reasons how in the world could anything happen to them in the first place. Keeps the plotlines straight.

Great series!
Great series! I loved this book just like the others. The stories are awesome and I love the characters even more. I know I love a story when I get so invested in the characters' success. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
