The content is fine but it had answers marked up. It's OK to practice and get familiar with format but my daughter's school had moved to computer based test so there may be a slight difference in how the teat is administered.

A good book because it broke down the test into different sections (Sentence Completion, Figure Analogies, Number Series, etc) - the same sections on the COGAT test. I had my daughter complete a couple of sections each day and based on the results, I was able to quickly identify which sections she was struggling with more. I would review these questions with her then had her retake those sections at a later time, so she didn't just remember the specific answers. For that reason, I like the fact that the book had 2 tests to allow the opportunity to retest certain sections. After seeing the test, I was able to draw some of my own problems for her to answer to ensure she fully understood the concepts.I purchased this book along with the Visual Discrimination Book and my daughter qualified for the GATE program with a composite score of 99. The book was as listed. It had a tear on the back book cover but it was listed. It did arrive way before 7/29/14 and some tape can repair tear. No inside contents are damaged.I have not began my son using the book, but will write a review of content at that time.UPDATE: The answer key does not provide a reason for how the answer is derived and that is helpful information when trying to teach your child how to assess the question to better arrive at the answer.I shared this with the seller and seller were very responsive and even wanted to issue me a refund.I said not neccessary because the book served it's purpose and wasn't a bad tool for prep.UPDATE: My son tested 98% and tested into CogAT!

There are really good qestions in there for kids to practice on Cognitive Abilities and stretch their minds. We as a parent will never know what questions comes in COGAT tests in schools as Kids cannot remember the questions.One thing I would like to add here is these books are black and white and not colored but kids get colored images , patterns etc in the real test at school and they might get confused. So I will ask publisher to print colored version too, which I could not find online as hard cover book.The book is pretty much nicely written and challenges mental ability of kids throughout, so even if kid is not preparing for COGAT, I would say these books benefit my Kid alot and she learns new things daily with the book.

I got the earlier version of this book for my daughter. She scored 97 percentile in the COGAT last fall. She got 97 in the NNAT test and got selected for the gifted program. This book is much improvised version from the earlier one, for a better practice. I bought his book for her cousin for the needed practice. I definitely recommend this for any one. I will post more details in the fall.

we liked it. My son enjoyed the challenges. I noticed that the book had a lot of different kinds of problems. Some books have the feeling that you already did that problem, this one does not give you that feeling. each section is fresh and a good practice to keep the mind engaged

Good for practice but you will find it difficult to pass the test by practicing these tests alone.Make sure to use other practice books in addition to this one. Also I would recommend to practice for at least 2-3 month regularly before test, do not rely on this book alone as you can finish the tests in this book in 4-5 days.

This worked great in preparing my child. It would be useful if the answer pages were removable so my child is not tempted to look and it is easier for the parent to grade.
