TechMatteMagGrip Metal Plate Replacement Kit for Magnetic Universal Car Mount

These magnets are fairly strong and work for what I purchased them for. I came up with an odd configuration for my bf's iPhone 6s: my bf had a casemate flip folio case with card slots that also charged his phone and loved the idea of it. He could rid himself of his wallet and not have to worry about how charged his phone was all at the same time. Unfortunately, the tip of the lighting charging tip broke off inside his charging port and the case because just a wallet that kinda sorta holds the phone in place - backward if you want a protective case on the phone for times when it is outside of the folio case.So I was on a mission to find a replacement for his charging folio/wallet case for his birthday in October. The Smaiphone battery case is extremely thin, so i took a chance to see if it would fit in the Dreem folio case. When he opened all of these on his bday he was really excited, he used one of th elarger rectangular magnets on the outside of the back of the Smaiphone batttery case and it was able to stick to the Dreem folio case. So I can't speak tot he intended functionality of these replacement magnets, but I can say they are strong and able to keep his phone in place no matter which way you flip the phone - though I would like it if they were slightly stronger, hence the withholding of one of the stars.

They do what they are suppose to. I'm not too sure why the heck the rectangular magnets don't come with tape on the back as they are pretty useless to me that way, but I suppose they are just meant to be slipped in between a case and phone. Sounds great in theory unless the case you are trying to slip in between has high quality material and doesn't let the magnet strength to go through, thus it won't hold on the car mount. I ended up using the circle magnets with the tape on the back and stuck it directly to the back of the case I'm using and that works perfect.Despite the round magnets being smaller, they are heck strong and hold my Samsung S6 Edge w/the phone in a case, perfect. Recommended if only for the round magnets alone. If you got use for the rectangle magnets without tape on the back, even better for you. I suppose you could always get your own 3M tape and stick it on the back of the rectangle magnets if you prefer, but sounds like too much investment already there, lol.

Holds the phone well.

Made a purchase in 2018 of TechMatte mounting plates, needed to use them now in 2022 and found that they did not have any adhesive on them to correctly mount them. Reached out to TechMatte and was told that it is past the warranty period of 1 year and the best they can do is offer me a 15% discount on the purchase of new product. Now I have to state that I really like TechMatte products and this is the first time I encountered such a problem. My wish is that TechMatte would stand behind their product.

Just what I was looking for.

The TechMatte® MagGrip Metal Plate Replacement Kit consists of 2 rectangular and 2 round metal plates to be used with the TechMatte MagGrip CD Slot Magnetic Universal Car Mount Holder or other similar devices. Granted, you could make a usable plate out of the lid of a can of corn like I did temporarily, when my Holder showed up without any plates. The rectangular plates are pretty slick, look nice and clean, and fit neatly and unobtrusively between your cell phone and a protective case. If you use a case, optionally, you can use the round plates which have an adhesive that will stick to the back of your phone. Either way, the convenience of being able to place your phone magnetically in a convenient location to use as a GPS, speakerphone, or to play music, makes this system tough to beat. Highly recommended!

This was a great purchase. I had to have my iPhone battery replaced. The frame that is attached to my iPhone 6 that allows me to digiscope birds, goes around the perimeter of the phone. So the back of the phone is exposed. When Apple replaced the battery and had to remove the back, of course that destroyed the plate. The first time I attached the TechMatte replacement rectangular plate, it didn't hold, but then I realized there was still some adhesive residue from the original plate left on my phone. Once I thoroughly removed all traces of the residue, the new plate stuck perfectly. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and I love that I have some extras!

I ordered 2 of these. Both my work truck and my personal vehicle have CD players but I don't use them, and I never did like a window mount for a phone. For the price, I figured I'd give them a shot. I saw where a couple of people mentioned they do obscure the view of the radio's screen, and the mount does... but I can live with it. Eventually I'll probably change the thumb screw out to a shorter screw, and that will solve that issue... Maybe that is something TechMatte can include as an option? I have an LG V10 and it is a massive phone, holds it well, never have a problem with it moving around, even on bumpy roads. I am extremely happy with this purchase.
