INTO THE LAND OF THE UNICORNS (Unicorn Chronicles)

I got this for my 11-year old niece for her birthday. I read it myself so we could talk about it. This review is from an adult's perspective.Regarding the quality of materials, I ordered it new and the paperback was in pristine condition. The binding and pages have held up with no problems whatsoever.This first book (Into the Land of the Unicorns) is very short and not that interesting to an adult, although I am clearly not the target audience. It seems to be aimed at younger tweens/children. My niece said it was "quite gripping." Girls who like unicorns will probably love it. The ending leaves much unresolved so it seems like the author planned it to be a series from the start. Really its value is as an introduction to the rest of the series, which is fantastic.I got the remaining three books in the four-book series from my library and am very glad I did! The books got better and better with each installment. The third and fourth books are long and might be better for older tweens or teens. There is some violence and death in The Last Hunt, not too graphic though (and no sex or strong language at all). Towards the end I couldn't put it down! I love fantasy and these books are some of the better ones I have read in the last few years. If you are a unicorn fan in particular you will be thrilled (although I'm more of a dragon fan myself). I highly recommend the series for all ages, just stick with it past the mediocre first book. It is worth it in the end.

This is a wonderful series. I purchased this along with the second novel in the series for my 11 year old daughters as holiday gifts. We all love them. However, I found it very difficult to obtain the 3rd volume, and almost impossible to get the final installment. Note to the publisher: why sell the first two volumes and have the last two out of print? This is a marvelous series! So much better than so many books out there that are currently being marketed for kids. It is creative, magical, and will have you hooked quickly. If you love unicorns and magical creatures, then this is a series that you won't want to miss.Highly recommended!!!

I just love Unicorns.They have been my favourite since I was a little girl.I am so so far away from being a little girl now,but my love for Unicorns is still there.So I had to buy this book not only because of my endless love for them,but also because I read so many different reviews for this book.Well,I definately agree with those who said that this is a great read.Yes,absolutely a well-written,enchanting fantasy story.I loved Cara,that brave special gil,and her friendship with all those creatures from a magical world.Conville's descriptions are so vivid and in such detail that you actually feel like you are in Luster!Generally speaking,this is an awsome adventure and a must read for all fantasy and Unicorn lovers(Lightfoot is an absolute sweet-heart),and I strongly dissagree with those who said this is only for children.You adults out there,read it with you children,grandchildren,godchildren or whatever.I promise you,you won't regret it!

Was given to me as a child for Christmas one year. At age 26 this is still my favorite book, it has been like a security blanket for me and has allowed me to escape when I needed it most, this book has saved me more than once.The entire series is incredible it's a fasinating journey with many twists and turns as well as the most wonderfully brave creatures that inhabit it.Definitely worth the read!

Ok, reading the summary, looking at the cover and even reading the back when it arrives, you will probably think it's almost funny how cheesy it is. But, read 1 chapter and you'll be absorbed. I started this series back in elementary and was sadly considering that it may dissapoint now that it's been several years, but it didn't :)awesome fantasy series, one of my favourite. The book arrived promptly with a small mark or 2 on it and looking slightly ripply like it had gotten a little wet once, but it was labled Used-very good so I don't care. Although I will say if this is the only cover art you've seen, you might want to look at the original, I actually like it better. The book describes the unicorns as built like a horse but slightly thinner and more refined. The new cover art unicorns look like macho war horses Oo Also the original is an actual scene from the book. I don't think Cara is ever on a rearing unicorn. Overall awesome book, and series. i loved this series as a young girl & still enjoy it today. i was very pleased to find Book 1 in Kindle format & i await for 2, 3, & 4 to get added to Kindle format!!!

I know these books were written for children, but I truly enjoyed reading them. In this series Bruce Coville out does himself. He writes with a such flair of fantasy, yet the honesty of true human emotions is not lost, which so often happens in the mix of mortal world and fantasy. Your heart melts for the quest thrust upon little Cara and the unicorns by the woman called, Beloved. You feel protective of them as she and the unicorn's face their adventures and dangers in Luster. Bruce adding the little character called, Squijim was a stroke of genius. It is so funny. And it sounds so cute he makes you want one of your own. Having read all four chronicles I can honestly say it is a story that you will never forget. I think it would make a great movie!

Brought this book for my niece for Xmas as one of her stocking filler gifts. She is mad on unicorns & she enjoys to read too so this seems a perfect little gift for her which I'm sure she's going to love. Arrived promptly & was well packaged. Recommend item & seller.
