It comes with a lot of different tips for textures and designs, cools down fairly fast for you to switch the tips. However my tips have changed color within the first use, which is expected but the first one smoked on me. Now two tips are blue, and at times metal will flake off, so be sure to blow those off your project piece or they get stuck in the wood. The grey area where you hold your pen can still get hot, even at the starter heat of 350, but I mean hot enough that your fingers can need a break. It comes with a beautiful carry case great for holding everything, even a few pieces of project wood. Temperature controls are easy, and this device is great for beginners.

I got this really nice woodburning set for myself, but my daughter is very into art and I knew she would enjoy it as well. This is neat because we can do so many other projects now. She can take her art and out it onto wood. We can decorate things for gifts for her grandparents. This set somes with so many different tips to stamp and burn. There is such a great variety of items with it. I really love that it also comes with burner itself. It includes a really handy zippered carrying/storage case. This is so perfect for a gift for the artsy, crafty person who enjoys trying different mediums out!

Maybe because I am left-handed but this tool feels like the grip is just a little bit too far from the tip. And it does heat up significantly, though the amount of heat put out obviously correlates to the temperature you select.Other than it gets a little too hot for comfort this set has a lot of different types of tips and you can also solder with it. I have not yet tried that feature, but just simple burning works well. I also like having the carry case so I am not stuck looking for pieces.The stencil is honestly a throw away and not really worth anything, just cheesy small block letters. The tips change fast and the temperature control is easy to figure out. I am a true beginner and this kit worked well for my first project.

The media could not be loaded. It would be nice if the I instructions go over what the different attachments are and do. When I started using the kit it wasn't staying hot, it seems that the temp would fluctuate making it hard to have an even burn. The stem that you attach the tips to starts to come loose when in use making the stem wiggle.

Purchased as a gift for beginners age 10 - 12 yrs. There are a lot of tips for beginners.The kids were not able to change the tips safely once the unit was hot. Adult supervision and assistance was necessary, but expected. Overall a great kit and a good value! Would purchase again.

So first off, I'm fairly new to wood burning. I bought a cheap gun at a local store to test it out and ended up fairly successful so I decided to get this to expand. I was so excited to try it out. Off the bat when I turned it on, I realized you couldn't get it up to the 896 quoted. It actually only went up to 480. The next thing was when it stopped flashing the numbers it was support to be heated to temperature but it did not burn the wood. It took well over fifteen minutes to head enough to scorch the wood. It worked alright enough to burn the wood but the handle got extremely hot and ended up burning me! The other issue the handle was big and clunky so it didn't fit in my hand well which meant that I didn't have the control I needed for finer details. I would give it no stars if I could.

Not impressed. Pros: warms up quickly. Cool variety of points. Cons: the handle gets too hot when in use. Hot enough where i can't hold it anymore. The various points don't maintain heat consistently throughout the point. The point itself is not well made where the shape is not even.

It works pretty good and gets hot quickly. You will probably need to keep it pretty hot for the tips to be effective. Where you hold it gets a bit warm. I've enjoyed using it so far.
