Keeps aggressive horned rams at bay.
This prod is long enough to reach an approaching ram (or rooster). It's long enough to deliver its shockbefore the approaching animal is close enough to hurt you.Unlike a 'stun gun' it discharges only on contact with a conductive surface, so you have to prodthe attacking animal, but then it delivers a painful shock and the animal getsthe picture. Also unlike a 'stun gun', the voltage is not so high as to disable the animal, only toscare it. We haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, butit has held its initial battery charge for two weeks, so far. The instructions are unclear as towhether the battery must be removed to charge it, but the unit is equipped with a chargingport on its exterior as well as one on the battery itself. This isn't the cheapest such item available, but Ilike the size and performance; further, the day-glo orange color makes it unlikely that it will be lostin the chaos of the barn.
