Supplier to the Confederacy: Peter Tait & Co. Limerick
This is a focused history that worked in a lot of knowledge about uniforms, both Confederate and British. The standardizing of soldier height, girth and sleeve length, and the cutting of uniforms by machinery was interesting. Then getting the uniforms to the Confederate Units. That ties in with other books that talk about how thrilled Confederate troops were to get a uniform issue. Just a little gem! Well researched and focused. - Gavetta

Great short reference book
Like the other "Supplier to the Confederacy" books that Mr. Burt and Mr. Barry teamed on, I found this book an excellent short resource with enlightening research, well-thought conclusions, and some excellent images of material culture. Like the first review, I was surprised to find out through their research that original jackets thought for years to be of Tait provenance are probably from other contractors. This deserves to be on the shelf next to "Entrepot" and other resources on the Confederate supply system.

Detailed research
An excellent read that gives great. well founded research which provides an important companion to the other book in the series on Suppliers to the Confederacy (Caleb Huse and S Isaac Campbell). The only thing lacking are coloured photos of some of the uniforms, which, in all fairness can be sourced from the internet, if the uniforms listed in the book are 'Googled.' I found it a very interesting read and it provided the detailed information on depots that supplied the various Confederate armies in the latter stages of the Civil War. Buy it. You will not be disappointed..

How More Esoteric Can You Get?
I am from Limerick (Ireland), and the fact that somebody had discovered that a local clothing firm had once made uniforms for the army of the Confederate States Of America certainly grabbed my attention,Well-researched and well-written work.

Supplier to the Confederacy: Peter Tait & Co. Limerick
As usual by Mr. Barry, I never read something from Mr. Burt, I found the book well researched and sound. A specific topic a bit too much oscure which has been now much more clarified and explained. It gives a very fresh and unusual, to me at least, view of the trading world of UK on Victorian times. I will look for more books from this formidable duo: Craig L. Barry & David C. Burt.
