Oil on Canvas Original Tango Dancers Painting 15 x 25 by Marina Antonova. Signed and unframed. About the painter: Marina Antonova was born in 1962 in Yargara, Republic of Moldavia. At the age of nine, she exposed academically for the first time to the world of Art. She was enrolled in an Art School, where she had the opportunity to take classes in drawing, painting, composition, sculpture and, most importantly, Art History. Later, she travelled to the capital city of Moldavia to take Art classes sponsored by the Cultural Ministry. Here she studied a variety of techniques as well as such courses as perspective, calligraphy, freehand, esthetics and decoration. At the age of eighteen, her painting started to show a professional style, as she was working, as an artist, in a variety of ways, as an interior and exterior designer, in the theatre, for offices and cultural centres. When she was twenty six, she travelled to Pribaltica in the Republic of Letonia, where she lived eight years. She became quite inspired by the architecture in this new country and used it in her drawings and paintings. During that time, she found herself drawn to pastels and concentrated on these colors in her painting. After the fall of the Soviet Union, she moved to Ukraine, where she lived for the next six years in the Karpotos Mountains, surrounded by nature – crystal clear rivers and air so pure it begs you to relax. This of course inspired her creativity. She emigrated to Argentina in the year 2000. The spirit of the Porteños, with their dances, songs, and colors, shows the happiness that she felt in her native country. She feels more comfortable working with Oil and Watercolor, although she can work fine with Acrylic. What she likes most of all, however, is to paint Oil with the modern technique of the Spatula, as it gives her expressive freedom on the canvas.
