A is for Axel: An Ice Skating Alphabet (Sports Alphabet)

Great birthday present!

I LOVED this book - a gift for my grandaughter - for several reasons. First of all, being an alphabet book, it was appropriate for a very young skater. However, the content and added information on each alphabet entry made this book an excellent choice for an older skater as well. Finally, I LOVED the illustrations! EXCELLENT! Over the years of following skating, I have come to always expect excellence from Kurt Browning. A is for Axel did NOT disappoint!!!!

Kids love this series of books. A is for Axel hits home as I have three skaters - two of which are working on learning their alphabets and words. The side bars have been an hit to my older skater who can read. I watched a lot of Kurt Browning competing back in the day - stand up guy. Nice transition to the written world. I recommend highly for a good fun read.

My 8 and 10 year old loved this book. Bought it for them as a Christmas gift. Pictures are great and we learned a lot of history about ice skating from this book.

My daughter figure skates, and she loved this book when she was five. Now she is ten, and we are getting this book for our little friend who is almost six. She also skates, and I know she will love it. I would recommend this book to a child any age-very fun to read, and educational too!!

As a figure skating household ( I've been skating for 27 years and my 4 year old daughter has been skating for 3 years) we love it!

Neat and informative book that I really enjoyed reading....but was a bit wordy for my little one. I just read the basic part of it to her and leave the fluff for me.

For my 4-year-old granddaughter who is in U.S. A. Basic ! figure skating. Anything skating suits her. Very nice book for a young skater.

The book has a short poem for each letter, accompanied by an info note. The illustrations are very good, the poem fonts are big so child will have no problem reading it. Info notes are useful and interesting. Most ice skating books are geared for adults only, this one is a delight for both children and adults alike. I really enjoyed it ;-)
