Will not buy anything else
We have a fabrication and welding business. These grinders get used hard and a lot. They are abused, not in a beat them with a hammer or throw them across the shop way. The truck grinder have been dropped in ditches, tossed out of ditches, pulled up by the cord, covered in mud and the promptly put back in the truck. We have around 8-10 of these ranging in age from brand new to 5-6 years old. I have replaced the brushes on the older ones and replaced the cords where they have been damaged. Only once have I taken the head apart and added grease, that was on one that was making noise. I did end up putting a bearing in it and have been using it for years. #1 in my book. Just bought two more a couple days ago and moved the older ones into a backup position.

Time saver
I've been laying 16" pavers and had to cut one paver in half each run. I have a Makita 4 1/2" grinder that required me to make a cut, flip it, cut again and use a brick chisel to split it. Wanting to eliminate some of this procedure I opted for the 6" Makita. With the blade guard on one clean cut and a slight tap and I have two halves. One cut means running the blade across your cut line multiple times. Blades for a 6" grinder are a little hard to find at a big box store so I suggest Amazon.

and I've added it to the good investment list
Solid grinder, and exactly what I expected from Makita. The brake takes some getting used to however, it does speed up production and will eventually spoil you. Surprised Mr. Old school here, and I've added it to the good investment list. I'll update if it changes.

Always loved makita grinders except for this brand new one
Only used it for about a hour and a half when the disk continued to spin even without use of trigger. Only way to stop it was to unplug it. And as soon as you plug it back in (finger off the trigger) it continue to spin. Extremely dangerous! Always loved makita grinders except for this brand new one. Hopefully the replacement works better than this on!
