Hulk is Hulk
Finally, the kind of Hulk story I was looking for!Particularly a little less hulk-smashing and a little more Bruce smashing his head against the wall trying to get a grip around his life. Sadly, no matter how hard he tries, his hands are too small and the Hulk's destroy everything they meet.Brilliant writing coupled with Tim Sale's endearing art. Can't recommend enough.

Another Awesome Color
Gray, Yellow, Blue - I can't wait for the next color! Really hoping for a Captain America book. The Hulk book is awesome and if I have to compare, my second favorite, Spider-Man: Blue being the absolute best one - hands down! Whereas in the other two books, the main character is talking to a deceased loved one, here, Banner is talking to his psychiatrist friend and reliving his ordeal of how he became hulk, his battle with the army, his battle with Iron Man, that's right IRON MAN! And lastly, his relationship with Betty. A very deep, emotional book with just stunning artwork. The illustrations are so good, I would not even call it a graphic novel, it's just a work of art! Huge fan of this team and pretty much hooked on whatever they churn out.

Familiar story with a new take
This series from Jeff Loeb is a tough task. Take a familiar origin story and somehow find a new angle in terms of Betty and Banners relationship. The illustrations are phenomenal and work well with the throwback gray hulk.

Loeb and Sale do it again!!
I'm pretty new to the world of comics. A friend turned me onto Miller's Batman series and that left me craving more. I found Loeb & Sale's Batman and They left me wanting more. Loeb's writing will suck you in. He has a great pacing to his story and the characters are life like and believable. The art of Tim Sale is wonderful! he has a great use of line and you never get lost in his panels. This book is a great take on the 24hrs after Dr. Banner's accident. Another piece of the Hulk's origin story.ENJOY!

A great story
Jeff Loeb and Tim Sale are a great team. They never cease to amaze me. I have never bought one of their books and have been disappointed. Hulk:Gray is no exception. I have read "Batman-The long Halloween", "Superman-A Man for All Seasons", and even "Catwoman-When in Rome". All great stories that impressed me so I decided to check out some of their stories for Marvel. Hulk:Gray blew me away. The story and art are just amazing. The interaction between the characters is great, especially between the hulk and Betty. The action is well paced. There is even a great throwdown between hulk and Tony Stark in his original Iron Man armor!!! The animosity between the hulk and General "Thunderbolt" Ross is particlarly intense. The hulk just wants to be left alone and Ross just continues to hound him (and waste alot of expensive military equipment in the process). You have to wonder who the real monster is. General Ross is a obnoxious, loudmouth bully who constantly abuses his power for his own means. The Hulk at least tries to protect his friends Betty and Rick, in his own way. The only thing that was never clarified is why the hulk was originally gray. Doctor Banner spoke a little about this subject to Doc Samson but it was never really answered. Not really a complaint just a question. I really enjoyed this book. I loved it so much I recently picked up "Spiderman:Blue" and "Daredevil:Yellow". I'll pick up "Captain America:White" as soon as its released as well. I Hope they will work with Marvel again and I look forward to their future work. Once again; great book!!

Hulk Loves Betty
Jeff Loeb and Tim Sale's Hulk: Gray is an amazing comic book that takes an intriguing and introspective look at the big green guy. Jeff Loeb's storytelling is masterfully organized, distinct, and sympathetic in tone. He really analyzes the Hulk's true nature as a naive and wanting abstraction of Bruce Banner's ego and elegantly verbalizes the estranged relationship between the man and the monster. Bruce Banner and the Hulk do not like each other, they do not even know each other but are still able to understand the inner-thinkings of each other despite all of that. Both are full of confusion and anger, albeit Bruce's being far repressed, and both seek one think and one thing only: understanding. The quiet moments between Hulk and his forever-love Betty Ross is irrefutably touching and sometimes sublime. Tim Sale's artwork is amazing, giving the Incredible Hulk a very twisted Mr Hyde meets Frankenstein's monster kind of look. It honestly offers a completely different way of seeing who the character is and what he means. This may be one of the best HULK stories out there, and if you're a fan of the character then this is essential.

From a time, when you could trust Loeb
There was a time, when the name Jeph Loeb meant something. The guy who wrote Long Halloween and Hush storylines for Batman was brilliant. Todey it seems, Loeb lost his way. Hulk: Grey is from that time, when you cold trust Loeb. It's competent and entertaining. It is not exeptional or brilliant, but it's solid. Loeb did not bring anything new to the Hulk mythos with Grey. It's not as meaningfull for the character as Blue was for Spider-Man. But it's good fun.Tim Sale on the other hand is as good as ever. His one of the best artist in comics today. His take on Hulk is exeptional. I dont like the big culturist/ wrestler/ superhero type of Hulk, that is Marvel's house style. To me, Hulk is a monster, a creature from nightmares and Tim Sale captures this perfectly. What makes Hulk: Grey special, and what reviewers often write about, is... the disney charm to the story. It's like a Disney movie, with Betty Ross as disney princess. It's defenetly worth picking up for that.

Amazing book. Again
Amazing book. Again, Loeb's writing is brilliant and Sale's artwork is beautiful and full of emotion. He's the first artist that has ever made me feel sorry for the Hulk. Just a brilliant artist.

Hulk sad.
Loeb and Sale continue their acclaimed "Yellow, Blue..." with Hulk Gray. Daredevil and Spiderman's love lives have had the spotlight, now it's the jolly green giant's turn. This is as much an origin tale as one about Hulk's tragic love for Betty Ross and a pretty entertaining one, the thing stopping it from being great is the heavy narration done through a conversation with Bruce and Dr Samson. Similarly to Yellow and Gray, it gets in the way of the story and sometimes makes little sense.

Brilliant read!
Brilliant read. This story does make you feel sorry for Bruce and the hulk from the beginning of his creation. Really enjoyed reading another take on how Bruce became the hulk.
