Monroe OESpectrum 5840 Suspension Shock Absorber for Buick Regal

I bought a pair of these as a replacements for my 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass which had a very firm/harsh ride. These really softened up the handling, and made the ride much smoother. There is also less road noise.A very good replacement at a low cost.Comes with all of the hardware and bushings.I would recommend getting the correct shock socket or a pair of vise-grips to hold the shock stem from rotating when you tighten the nut.

I've used this particular brand on many cars I've restored. They as good or better than OEM units and in some cases better than "performance shocks" that could be used on the family sedan. These went on an older Cadillac and I wanted the softer "living room" ride they provide.

I installed these on my 1982 El Camino because the old shocks were very soft, as in worn out. After installed the shocks, I did the "shock test" of pushing down on front bumper and was very surprised at how they felt even softer than the ones i had just removed. Driving the car confirmed that the worn out shocks were indeed better, as the front end of the car wallowed up and down over any kind of irregularity in the road. Perhaps this is a one-off bummer pair? I've been using these shocks on my vehicles for years because they offer OEM ride control, whereas most "better" shocks make the ride too stiff. I recently put four of them on my 2004 Ranger pickup and they were fine. But this pair was definitely not.

They are working out great. Boyfriend installed them on his 1974 El Camino and he is really happy with them.
