Wow! it's like having a new boat.
Excellent addition to my boat. It is quite easy to install. On my old Mercury outboard, I had to remove the trim tab, slide the hydrofoil on, replace the trim tab and tighten down two screws on the side of the hydrofoil. The difference was noticeable almost instantly. The boat pops right out of the water when you accelerate. There is virtually no rise in the bow as you get up to speed. I've tried it both pulling a tube and without. In both situations the boat's performance was excellent.Three cautions:1. make sure that it is perfectly straight. It's easy to have it off just a bit. It took me a couple times of adjusting the set screws before I got it right.2. Watch the set screws on the side. They need to be really tight. I didn't tighten them enough at first and then had the problem of the foil being off center by the end of the outing.3. Since putting the foil on, the boat pulls to the right. My guess is that I need to adjust the trim, but because I don't have power trim, that's a hassle and I haven't done it yet. It's not enough of a problem make me tinker with it or change my mind about the product, but I do have to keep a hand solidly on the wheel (something you should do anyway).I can't speak to the fuel savings. I don't keep close enough track on my fuel to notice any change. But the product is well worth it even if there isn't any fuel savings. It's hands down the simplest (and most noticeable) improvement I've made to my boat.

Product failure
I bought a the stingray hydrofoil 40+ HP installed with instructions provided and going out the first time I returned to the boat ramp to find the whale tail had completely broke off.

Buy two, the first one will fall off.
First, the good: it does work. My 21 foot stern drive open bow Hurrincane got onto plane quicker with this installed. Now the bad.....you are going to want to use the install method that does not drill through your stern drive. You will think "yeah, this will work, it looks pretty stout". Your are wrong, and it will fall off. Now, since you took my advice and bought two, you can now bust out your drill and install the second one the right way and bolt it through your sterndrive. This is what I had to do after the first one disappeared in the lake. Read the other reviews and see just how many people lost theirs with the "no holes" installation.

"No-Drill", but it works
Depending on your outboard, you may be able to get away with the no-drill install... for me though, there's no way this was a set it and forget it. Going solely with the set screws it was gonna fall off sooner or later, probably sooner. But, it's not a big deal. The best thing about this is you can slap it on and test it out with the set screws and no-drill install to see how to works on your boat. Worst case scenario it does nothing or makes it worse and all you end up with is a few scratches instead of a few holes in your outboard to fill. For me the only thing I really wanted out of this was dropping the nose of my boat (15ft aluminum deep v) before plane speed which for my boat is right around 10mph which was super annoying because almost every lake around me is no wake zoned throughout and 10mph max, so I was at a 30 degree angle almost always nearly having to stand on my seat to see what's in front of me.With this thing, now it's almost flat from 0 to plane, and it's planing at a lower speed which is even better. Haven't tested top end speed but it really doesn't matter to me and just those two things are huge quality of life improvements for my boat.Quick tip if it does work for you and you want the security of drilling and bolting it into place. Take it off and drill through the top first, then put it on and drill through the top hole so you don't have to remove your prop.

It did the job
Have to admit , after reading the other reviews of others losing it after the first try I went ahead and bolted it on. Had to take the prop off to do it but that's no biggie. Took it out to the lake to give it a try and you can definitely notice a difference. Was skeptical at first but relieved it did the job.

Waste of time.
Did not fit my mercury. Trim tab tab was too big for slot they allowed for.

Don’t buy unless you do the drill on method.
Well it worked great while it stayed on. Thought for sure it would stay on because it was so snug used my impact to do the set screws. But sure enough like everyone said before it came off. Unless you plan on doing the drill method I don’t advise getting this product. If you do worked great while it was on and did as advertised.
