Q: how well do they work with a TKA?

I'm not a doctor, but if you have had total knee replacement, you shouldn't need a Cho-Pat strap. The only bone structure left in the knee after replacement is the patella, and if it isn't staying in place you may need more surgery. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I had a TKA, and I know people who had to have subsequent surgeries because of problems with their patella. I hope this helps.

Q: Is this good for an arthritic knee? Or is the dual action one better for that?

This has worked for me and I have moderate arthritis. My husband also uses this and literally wears it all the time except for bed. Never tried the dual action Cho-pat but that one seems to give more stability but looks more cumbersome in just looking at it.

Hand washing it is the best way, thank you.
