If you are a Lego fan like our house is you owe it yourself to buy this! Just the pieces alone justify the price. We love the entire Lego pirate collection and loved building this set. This is hands down the best Lego pirates set available. Some of the pieces are hard to find and expensive. Considering buying another one just for the pieces.This looks so cool displayed and everyone comments on how great it it. We might switch out some of the characters and make it custom.Just the mini figures you get makes this worthwhile. Can't say enough good things about it. My brother bought one and bought Star Wars mini figures and custom built a chess set with these pieces and different mini figures.Great gift item for the Lego fan and/or anyone who plays chess.

Bought this for our daughter's birthday. She LOVES it! The set arrived promptly within two days. We gave it to her on her birthday and she started assembling it right away. Everything is complete and she is having so much fun with it. Definitely a great gift for someone who LOVES Legos.

This was a spectacular gift for my grandson whose 2 addictions are Legos and chess. The problem, though, is that this was way overpriced. The set is retired and hard to find so I begrudgingly paid the price. (Anything for the grandkids, right?)

This is a good novelty chess board build - my first grader had a lot of fun putting it together. However, when it came time for the actual chess play, we found out that pieces are very hard to "move" on the board, that sometimes board pieces stick to the chess figures when you're lifting them up, etc. In theory, with care, a real chess game can be played; in practice, taking care to put together and restore the integrity of the Lego chessboard at every move gets boring and irritating fast. The setting looks very nice and it is attracting a lot of attention from visitors.The chess figurines have a lot of color variety amongst them, so sometimes they're hard to distinguish if a pawn is supposed to be a while or black piece...

Bought this for my grown up son (who still like to play with Legos) so he can teach his 7 yr old son how to play chess. So it's a win win.

My kiddos LOVED this set everything came with all intact and ahead of time and surprised all of us!

The chess set was fine and had all the Legos. We just had to look up the directions to put it together online. The Lego instructions were not in the box. I am not sure if this is a seller or a distributor issue. We did receive it on time and it wasn't any big deal to find the directions on the Lego website.
