Amazing Book!
I absolutely love this book from cover to cover! I have been searching for a specific path of paganism that fit my needs and beliefs and had not yet found it. I asked a friend of mine if he could recommend a book and he asked what deities I followed, which I honestly only had a vague idea and none named to me. I had always had a pull to ancient egypt, for as long as I could remember, and had various dreams about it. He suggested this book and from the moment I started reading it I felt a connection that I have never felt before. Each Lord and Lady resonated, each belief, each tradition. It spoke to me and I instantly began putting these aspects into my craft and already I feel renewed and so much more serene. I highly recommend this book to any who are searching, even if this path isn't for you, its an excellently written read. Ellen Cannon Reed incorporates Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses into modern paganism. With tutorials on how to make a Tameran wand, divination techniques specific to these Lords and Ladies, how to meditate with Them and build a loving and personal relationship with Them, and rich information on SEVERAL of Them in relation to the story of Asar and Aset. My life is better for reading this book and I am now taking what I have learned and making it my own, which I encourage always. Brilliant. Blessed Be!

I base my path on this book along with another.
This is one of my favorite books for my personal Pagan path. I've ordered this book a few times since my copies get used often. This is Egyptian based, but it is based on their own personal experiences. When following their outlines or the suggested rituals etc in this book you may have a different experience and feel a different personality from the deity you are working with. I will add that when I showed a friend the recipe for the Honey Mead in here she said that it has to be strained very well or it could make someone sick. I haven't researched this for myself but wanted to make others aware of the possibility.

Just what I was looking for
I enjoyed this book because it was a new voice from someone actually working with the Egyptian deities. Most books are academic in nature, describing how the author(s) believe the deities were worshipped in the past, and what attributes these beings were believed to have. Rarely do we hear from those who actually work with the deities and how they have come to know these deities. Not only do we hear about the deities from the perspective of one who worships them, but we also receive information on how to connect with these beings and a whole section of the book with prayers, chants and meditations to the deities discussed.

One or two nuggets of info, otherwise a throwaway
I just got this in the mail after dropping $3.99 + S&H on it (so about $10 total). Honestly, I think the book's a 'throwaway'- ie, not really worth the read.PROS:-I was able to verify, as I couldn't online, that Reed does in fact 'coin' "Tameran Wicca", which is a better label for Egyptian-minded Wiccan practitioners than "Kemetic Wicca", which is confusing as some might misinterpret that to mean blending Wicca with a Kemetic revivalist, Kemetic Orthodoxy or other Kemetic/Egyptian-based practice. Considering there are barely any Tameran Wiccan covens out there and I'm in the process of forming one, this is a big asset to be able to know exactly who started the phrase.-The book is pretty solid in that it provides you with sections on who the main deities are, their themes/concepts, meditation/ritual sections, homebrewed divination systems, a Julian vs ancient Egyptian calendar (but no Gregorian, alas), and recipes for food/drink and ritual tools. One thing that was very cool was the inclusion of some tablature for songs, but not many people know how to read sheet music. I, for one, haven't since high school, so I couldn't quite 'get' the way the words flowed oddly with the notes.CONS:-I don't like that in the deity sections, there are often irrelevant personal stories and unnecessary references to Sothistar, her coven. While I do get that this book is largely a part of the result of their practice, using 'my coven' with a thanks to Sothistar Coven page or something would have sufficed. It felt more like I was reading an ego trip. Especially that interesting story on p. 17 which was already referenced in another review. The deity sections were too vague; Linda Star Wolf and Nicki Scully's books are a lot more in depth and comprehensive/easy to understand the deities than this book.-A complete and total newcomer to Wicca would be confused. It is moreso a book for someone who already knows the process of Wiccan ritual. As-is, the book simply takes a "Hi, here are the gods, now come get to know them by reaching out with your intent to know them" approach- which is fine, but it's my personal opinion that if you're interested in Egyptian-flavored Wicca, you should understand solidly the religion first and then the flavor later. You can't make a good pot of chili by adding spices first- gotta start with the basic ingredients! :)-Her tone bothered me a lot with her offhanded, parentheses-covered comments. They are peppered throughout the book, and oftentimes 'sound' slightly condescending, and to be honest, I don't feel they need to be there.OVERALL:I'm glad I read the book, I reviewed the deities. My recommendation: Study Wicca, study the Book of the Dead. Then find and read Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf, and then Rosemary Clarke's "Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt". You'll get a much more solid understanding of Egyptian Wicca by rereading the Book of the Dead over and over than this book and by practicing the craft.

gods/godesses
My favorite Egyption goddess is Isis and I knew very little about the other goddesses worshiped in Egypt. It s open my eyes to the wonderful goddesses and their power to help us though our life on this earthly plane. I found this book very interesting, especialy the duties each of these deities had and the influencene women had in Egypt. I have really enjoyed this book,

I’m highly disappointed at this wiccan white washing to my ancestors history.
I hated the fact that she is white washing the ancient Egyptian race, and culture according to a ‘Legend’ written by a Caucasian guy.. Modern Egyptians have the same DNA as ancient Egyptians, and it’s proven by scientific DNA research. We even look the same as our ancestors. As an Egyptian, I’m highly disappointed at this wiccan white washing to my ancestors history.

"The Circle of Ellen C Reed"!
The Circle of Isis? Well what can I say? I think a better title would be "The Circle of Ellen C Reed"! This really is a "Warm fuzzy" hand book on her coven. I have no problem with that as long as it was made clear first, as I am not interested in how, or which way she and her members worship! I was looking for something unique and hopefully learn something new about the way the EGYPPTIANS performed their craft. Sadly this is NOT it! Ellen also seems to "shy" away from the darker side and even goes as far to try and push it into a brighter and happier view. When in fact it needs to be accepted for what it is, there is a real dark side to the Egyptian craft (as with all) that can't be avoided and needs to be examined and understood for what it is! Anyway, this is not intended to criticise Ellen personally, there is a place for her book. I just wanted to let those who are seeking for solid information about the real craft of ancient Egypt, not to think this is it! It is in short and personal worship manual for her coven and her idea's and interpretations about it. So if this is what you want then grab it, if not then check it out in a book store first before parting with your money like I did!!

Profound Spiritual Experiences!
I've read this book a few years ago in the car with my family and children. Inspite of the many distractions, I was transported to a higher state of consciousness and had a very intense vision of the goddess Tefnut which lasted two hours. I have referred back over and over to this book over the years and now also downloaded it on kindle to have it with me anytime.

Sehr phantasievoll
Wer`s glauben will....bitte.Seriöse Ägyptologie breitet den Mantel des Schweigens darüber.
