Steaming: Great Flavor, Healthy Meals (Tuttle Specials)

As with anything new, I was slightly apprehensive to start cooking with steam. All I knew was how to steam veg in one of those little fold up steamers that always seemed to be loosing legs. This small little book is packed with ideas, and how tos that made me a lot more comfortable with cooking with steam. It has opened up the door to cooking with steam. Who knew that pork chops could be cooked this way? And actually turn out well?!?! The corn on the cover was also delicious. This book will open your eyes to cooking more than just veg in your steamer.... Of course you might find yourself investing in better equipment than that little fold up steamer.... but it will be worth it! If you are new to steaming or want to know how to get the most out of your new steamer, I'd recommend this book. It has lots of basic information and enough recipes to get you started.

Easy to read and understand,just wish there were more Veggies recipes.

I found a bamboo steamer in a garage sale and needed some recipes for it, so I ordered this book. I've tried 3 so far and every time was a hit with my boyfriend. Great flavor, and the food turned out just like pictured in the book. My only complaint is I need more recipes!

Any "how to" book such as a cookbook is useless to me if it can't even contain a glossary. Otherwise it's just pages of shopping lists. I am the kind of cook that looks at what they have on hand, starts with the glossary and alters recipes accordingly. This book does have excellent illustrations though and a forward that explains Asian ingredients (very limited). That's why I give it two stars. Without a glossary though, if you buy something you have to look through the entire book to see if you can use what you didn't use while preparing one of the dishes. I'm not poor, I just hate to waste!

It is still a great book. It was not what I was looking for but will make a delightful gift. I am going to put a package together of a bamboo steamer, recipe book, spices and utensils and give for a wedding gift.

I've made half-a-dozen recipes from this cookbook already. All of them came out very tasty. The corn on the cob was especially delicious.

Everything has a pic (rate), simple, easy, and it arrived quickly

I bought this book to accompany an electric 3 tier steamer as a wedding shower gift. The cover and title do not accurately describe the contents. Instead of it being about steaming and everyday food it has Asian recipes with odd ingredients. The recipes are so ethnic with such unknown ingredients that I would be afraid to try most of them. Very disappointed!
