Amazing blu ray transfer - a must have
Many opinions have been posted here on the release of this CAUGHT IN THE ACT blu ray. Why reissue something we have already seen? Why no new live material from Michael Buble? These can be valid questions but I also agree that they also have nothing to do with the quality of this item. I shall try to offer my perspective and hopefully it will help you decide whether you wish to purchase it.First off, I in no way think Michael Buble is milking his fans. Blu ray is an amazing gift to film and video enthusiasts. A good blu ray transfer is miles above even the highest quality dvd in picture quality and audio presentation. Due to the brilliance of blu ray almost everything that sold well on dvd is being reissued on blu ray for it is such an improvement. I doulble dipped here and was thrilled when I heard it was coming on blu ray.I have a high end blu ray player, a hd television and a high end receiver. An hd television is really a must to be able to fully appreciate blu ray. I found the picture quality stunning. Colors are crisp, flesh tones are amazing and the clarity crystal clear. When Michael is on stage you can see every line on his face, every drop of sweat. He appears as if he is in your room with you, as if you are actually at the concert. This is the reason for blu ray.I must admit at first with the audio i had a problem finding the best level to play it at. I found the volume varied greatly from the audience clapping to Michael singing. I was surprised for DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 is an excellent source. But then I remembered my receiver had different audio settings for music recordings so I changed the audio to CONCERT and it greatly improved but when I changed it to JAZZ the sound bacame impeccable. The sound level between Michael and the orchestra was perfection and audience participation stayed at a greatly enjoyable steady level. He runs into the audience, uses lighting a lot in his show and the picture holds strong thru it all.The performance most Michal Buble fans will already know. First off, the concert is 120 minutes and not the 90 minutes it says in the item description by Amazon. This is a stellar concert with a wide range of superb song selections. Michael Buble is in true form with his pure artistry in the forefront. I have seen him live twice and watching this brings me back again. The dvd never really did for me. Michael is an amazing performer. He puts so much into his stylings of his songs including his effective body movements and his camaraderie with the audience is a joy to watch. He is funny, energetic, sincere, humble and a true gentleman.Bottom line, you know Michael Buble and you probably already know this concert. If you love the concert and have the equipment to enjoy blu ray at its finest I recommend double dipping here. When I watch it on my 37" hd tv I am mezmerized and have no complaints. I find this blu ray transfer a huge success.

Caught in the Act Redux on blu-ray
First off, im wondering why would people end up ranting, complaining about Buble not having more concerts, more this and that and place them in the review section, when it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ITEM ITSELF? do you even own the said item? if not, then why bother ranting about it? send a letter to your congressman if you'd like, and tell em about it.Here we go...a bit disappointed, but here are the collected details about this blu-rayVideo Codec: VC-1Video Resolution: 1080i and not P by the wayBD-25 and not the full BD-50Total run time 120 minutes, just like the original dvd.Audio CodecsLinear PCM Stereo 2.3MbpsDTS 5.1 48kHz at 1.5MbpsGreat concert, and for those who arent familiar with the dvd version, its a must purchase for any buble and/or big band act out there, for both its sonic and visual qualities. Its a sharp upgrade from the original caught in the act dvd, but audio side is a tad softer. cleaner, yes, but noticeably lacking that 'heft' in it i was used to in the original. I could hear a difference using both formats, on a ps3 as well as a stand alone blu-ray player.Picture quality, considering that theres only a few out there that still use a BD-25 disc compared to the better BD-50, they couldve maximized what PBS used in recording this show. Definitely couldve been better using a 1080P signal instead of 1080i.Am i happy about it? lets just say, this ones great for a 120inch projection screen when the friends come around, and the DVD would be great for my standard collection.Worth a double dip? only if you're planning on displaying this on a larger screen.Solid concert, mediocre processing in my opinion. a blu-ray thats worth the price i initially paid for.

pack your bags, lets fly
The blu-ray starts off with a grand view of the stately arena that buble uses for this concert. the stage is well lit and effects throughout the show helps accompany the songs. the band and musicians are placed well on the stage and does not distract from the viewer watching and listening to buble himself. The picture quality as most have commented is astoundingly sharp. blu-ray quality at its finest. the audio quality is also superb and matches the sharp graphics if not even more perfect as it elevates the mood perfectly. I blasted the volume on my lcd tv to 70% of maximum volume and the sound still sounds perfectly clear without the 'noise' that I experienced with some other modes (component cable and others not HDMI).The concert contains a lot of my favourite songs from buble as well as some others that I'm starting to like even more. If you're a buble fan, you can't go wrong with this one. If you're a blues and jazz fan, then this blu-ray concert is a great addition to your library.Buble himself sings perfectly in this concert. He shows some of his humour as well which livens the experience. Josh Groban even makes a cameo to a great comedic effect and an impromptu duet?If you're coming back from a hard day at work, you pop this in and get swayed to a more relaxing atmosphere. It also works if you're prepping for a date and get yourself in a good mode prior to going out. Whatever the case may be, get ready to fly and swayed to great music.

Not bad.
Video and sound quality was amazing. You really do have to watch this with surround sound. I don't have the best sound system (just one of those HTIB's (home-theater in a box)), but it was still awesome nontheless. Also, invest in a HDMI cable (I found one here on Amazon for less than $5) and the difference it makes is worth more than the $5+shipping.As far as the concert itself, the song selection was pretty good. There were a few times though that he was talking a bit too much and he somewhat lost my attention. Overall, a decent show.

Excellent, worth every penny.
This is a lively fun performance from, the very pleasant, mild mannered Mr Buble, who works really well with his live audience and it makes for a brilliant concert. Unlike a recent Robbie Williams bly ray DVD I purchased, he doesn't find the need to use foul language and smoke on stage either. His supporting cast in the band and guests are really good too with some great bass playing, guitar and keyboards too.Visuals are really excellent despite the theatre stage being quite small, with great shots and camera work from a multiplicity of different angles. Lots of variety in lighting and really excellent audio recording quality on blu-ray works fabulously on a big LED screen with a powerful sound system. Its actually like being there! The sound may be a little bright for some tastes but knock back the treble control a little. A great recording all round and well worth having.

Recommended but no 'Lost'
Bought this for my wife who is a big fan. Went to his concert last year which was surprisely entertaining. MB is a definite showman and know how to work the fans. Anyway back to the Blu-ray, the picture quality is excellent ended up watching it all from start to finish with the wife. Shame this concert is recorded in 2004/5 which doesn't contain the song 'Lost' although it has 'Home'.
