Very good and cost effective.
Perfect. As I only need a single 3mm raise I have found that I can use 3 of the 5 layers in 3 different pairs of shoes which makes this very cost effective. The smaller (shorter) 2 of the layers are too short to be comfortable hence only using 3 of them but that makes it about £1.75 for each shoe.To check your own leg length you can take shoes and socks off and stand in front of a light switch or anything else that is fixed to a wall. Then transfer your weight from one leg to the other and see if the fixed object moves up and down. I found I stepped up when standing on my right leg, hence the left is shorter. I then used small bits of thin card (flyers that come through your door daily, some there is some use for them!) under my left heel until the light switch stayed at same level when moving from one leg to the other. Measuring the final amount of card gives you the size of the heel raise needed. This has minimised the pain in my right hip and low back within a couple of days. Nobody is made perfectly so let lenght is one of the things I discuss with most of my patients that present with leg or back pain. Hope this helps...

Leg length discrepancy problem answered.
I had a single hip replacement nine years ago since when I have walked with a limp due to a leg length discrepancy. I put this down to something I would just have to endure until a physiotherapist recently suggested that I try a heel riser shoe insert. After browsing on the net I decided on the Orthotic Medical insert with a depth of 15mm adjustable in 3mm stages. After playing around with this I have got the system fine tuned to my need to the extent that I am no longer limping and am able to walk longer distances uunaided and without pain/discomfort. I have ordered several more to fit in all my shoes boots and slippers without the need to mess about interchanging one unit.

Step up to Mark with these Orthotics.
I delayed writing this review for a while because it's not the sort of item you can assess overnight.I can now say I'm delighted with it. My need is based on differing leg lengths following an emergency hip repair. I have used 4 of the 5 layers in the pack to modify 2 shoes and will shortly be re-ordering. Depending on the size of the leg shortness compensation required anything between 1 and 5 shoes can be raised with the contents of one pack.I am actually entitled to 2 free shoe raisings a year on the NHS. Yet I have now realised that the price of these raises is such that I can simultaneously save both the NHS and myself some money (I save on the deal because it's cheaper than driving to and from, and parking at, the hospital). Finally, the layers are very easy to peel apart after just a little practice and (and this was a slight surprise to me) utterly simple to fit correctly into the shoe.I commend them to those still contemplating the purchase.

Slippery and hard - slip away from heel
Slippery base (see photo) makes these ride around beneath the foot making them an uncomfortable purchase. If they'd rubberised the bottom they would stay in place. As it is they're coated in a soft felt which has zero traction on the insole - in fact it's almost as if they were designed to slither about more effectively. I frequently have to remove my shoe to reposition them, otherwise they simply end up beneath the arch of my foot - ouch. Cheaply made too - you can buy this (unyielding) material in craft shops. On the positive side they're adjustable, if you have the strength to divide them (each layer is mercilessly glued together revealing a tacky surface), but that's nothing without the control that having a grippy base would have given them. Such an ill thought out product, and hard to believe that they are medically endorsed... Cheap gel ones seem better to me.

Excellent!
Great product! I've just had a left hip replacement which has made my left leg a little longer, so i put these in my right shoe (you can separate them) and i can walk much straighter, so impressed that I ordered another set straight away and will continue to. 😊

Great for treating heel pain
These heel raises have proved to be so helpful. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and had heel pain as a result. I wear orthotics (insoles) but these don't raise the heels enough. When I go for walks, I insert first my orthotics, then a foam insole and then these heel raises. Raising the heel is one of the classic ways of treating heel pain. These cost next to nothing and last for a very long time. First class.

Good product but does compress more than I thought
Good product, although has compressed slightly more than I would have expected after 2 days of wearing and had to place another layer previously removed to get to the correct adjustment . This additional layer had lost its stickiness so didn't adhere very well to the heel raise. However it is comfortable and stays in place in the shoe.

A life changer
Bought this to help with leg length discrepancy of over 1cm. I am so delighted with it! I am now walking without hip pain (in the longer leg) for the first time in about three years and my posture has lost its lean toward the short leg. Should have bought one years ago, but somehow just learned to live with the discrepancy and the discomfort it caused. The lift has five 3mm layers glued together. I have removed one to reduce the lift from 15 to 12 mm which seems right for me. The layers separate easily enough when required but do not shift in use. The material is firm and doesn't compress yet the lift can be trimmed with a sharp knife to accurately fit the shoe. I've now ordered another one.
