The Edge of Us (Crash and Burn Book 2)

I finished this book at 3 in the morning...not even joking. Once I was able to start it and not stop, I couldn’t stop reading. I was turning the pages as fast as possible. I already want to read it again. McGuire knows how to pull me in and keep me there, and this book was no different. I’ve been a McGuire fan since I read Beautiful Disaster, years ago. I never thought another book could beat out those first two books for me, but this one sure gave them a run for their money. Being able to connect to so many characters in a book says something about the writing. You don’t just fall in love with Naomi and Zeke, you fall for all their friends and family too. The characters are written in a way that makes them feel like lifelong friends that you’ve been through every up and down with, you’ll want to have Thanksgiving together or attend their weddings. Speaking of characters....Naomi is the baddest woman in the world, and it’s magical! I’d be completely intimated of her but want to be her best friend too. She doesn’t need a man to take care of her, she will take care of them. She really is the female version of Travis Maddox. She has been through he** and back but keeps fighting and won’t give up. Zeke might be one of my favorite people. He has a huge heart and loves so easily. He hasn’t had the easiest life and he’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop, but man is he worth it. The Edge of Us gave me all the feels and gave me all those vibes I felt when I first found Indie writing. If you’re looking for a book that’ll give you laughs, action, some angst, have you wanting to throat punch someone and then hug others...this is the book for you. McGuire knows what she’s doing and she does it well!

Loved the healing process, and starting to love again. Zeke getting sick broke my heart. Loved the ending karma is a Witch.

I love this world and all the people in it. And I love the nods to other characters. However, someone who hasn't read all of these and the Beautiful series may be a little lost. Add in the fact it overlaps with book one, with the start of a moment then a rush through of "they bantered back and forth, on to the next thing" was a little wonky to me. So definitely read book one first. Or all the books, they're worth it. Naomi is tough and hardened by pain, and finds herself drawn to tender, sweet Zeke. Zeke is afraid to get his heart broken, but he's ready to go all in anyways, to a point. The last 25% of this book is full of action and quite a few surprises! I stayed up late to finish, because in those moments, there was no place to say ok, I can stop here, and be okay with it. I can't wait to see what she puts out next because I'll read them all, even if this one wasn't a full 5 star for me.

I have been waiting for this book since the release of ‘From Here to You’! Jamie McGuire is hands down one of my all time favorite authors and this book was no exception. From the very beginning I was drawn in, Naomi is one amazing chick and she doesn’t take crap from anybody. She knows pain and she knows loss and she’s living her life one day at a time. She’s not interested in getting involved with anyone else. She was ready for Zeke. Zeke is an Alpine Hotshot. He had a rough life growing up but now he has a family in his fellow hotshots. Zeke’s first encounter with Naomi is one for the books and he is drawn to her. There’s something about the strong woman that he needs to understand better. As Zeke and Naomi get to know each other they can’t help but be drawn to one another. When a person from Naomi’s past and now present tries to tear them apart the two have to figure out if the other is worth it? And can they get what the want?! Jamie is hands down the best. Her books from start to finish keep you captivated. She evokes so much emotion and I love that we get to revisit characters from previous books. I love every book that she writes and can’t wait for more from the crash and burn series!!

Crash and Burn book 2. A fanfreakingtastic read. This author has outdone herself. So many twists and turns. Strong characters with so many levels of WTF. Zeke is a loveable Hotshot. Naomi is a badass marine. Love the fact that she and her cousins kick ass on their own. Zeke and Naomi meet at such a crazy emotional time. Fires out of control and the Hotshots are needed. She's guarding a secure facility ran by her obsessed ex. What the neck is going on in that complex is unknown but it makes for some good reading. And the craziness level 10 begins. Each back story is awesome and full of depth. Super great to see past characters from other books like the Maddox brothers, Trex and the team, Liis and the Hotshot crew. Love love love the added ending of Trex and Darby.

She did it again! Jamie McGuire writes such compelling romances in these worlds we wished we lived in. This book, to me, felt so different than the others because while there was action going on the storyline itself was so much more real and heartbreaking. I cried so much reading this book but it was such a array of emotions that made me cry. As always, McGuire writes men that are fantastic and amazing. Zeke was so different than how I remembered him in From Here To You. He was strong, sweet, honest and, as always,way too hot! I really enjoyed getting to know Naomi and Zeke in this book and getting some parts from the previous book we didn’t see. Naomi is so strong and such a badass. I loved her and her attitude! Definitely different type of McGuire heroine than in previous books. The interesting part of this book was that at one point I thought “oh wow I feel like it’s gonna wrap up soon and that felt fast” and then I looked down and I was even half way through the book! And I actually LOVED THAT! It meant that there was so much more to this story and I absolutely loved it!

You expect, Jamie McGuire delivers! An absolutely amazing read. Love each and every single letter about this story! Well done lady, VERY WELL DONE!!!

What a phenomenal experience reading this part two was. Naomi , a war widow, who’s husband gave his life to save his comrades, enlist , does active service, but eventually finds herself being detailed to a secure unit in the desert as security. She accompanies her fellow comrades on a highly secret mission , having all left the forces. Little does she know, that a snake of an ex lover, her first a senator has a lot to answer for. Zeke is a fire fighter, attached to a group of men a few we’ve met before. Step forward the Maddox twins. Tyler and Taylor. Great to encounter them again, also a snip of their FBI brother Travis. Anyway back to the storyline. It has adventure, intrigue, definitely drama and so much more. Heart ache and sorrow between the two main characters is so riveting. The story twists and turns and has many interesting characters in it apart from the Maddox, Naomi family are incredibly interesting, strong and unusual as are Zeke’s . A great book easy to read . Difficult to put down. As ever a fabulous novel by a great author. Many a twist you didn’t see coming.

I hesitated reading the crash and Burn Duo! So glad that I did. Such a different read with Naomi being such a kick-ass woman and Zele being the man he is.
