Sand casting aluminum protection
I just began my adventure with aluminum/sand casting spring 2022. After great success with my first few plaque castings using Petrobond sand (Teton-Bond Petrobond 190 mesh), I noticed the raw, unpainted portions of the castings were very susceptible to staining from normal handling with my hands. After watching automotive programs sponsored by Sharkhide, I decided to look into the product. Imagine my surprise at the price of a relatively small amount of this product! However, as the cliché says, "you get what you pay for." Sharkhide is super easy to use, no spray guns or any other special tools needed to protect the castings I worked so hard to produce. The resulting finish is difficult to detect with the naked eye since Sharkhide does not seem to change the polished raw aluminum finish, but it definitely protects the raw metal from fingerprints or other marks from handling with only 2 thin coats. For my purposes, the quart size I chose will probably last several years of hobbyist use.

This stuff is amazing!
I have never wrote a review on amazon but this product is awesome especially if you work so very hard to polish your boat and want to keep it that way. Couple months ago i polished my boat spent 2 weeks doing so then put many coats of aluminum wax with sealant thinking it would be ok but after first lake trip all my hard work was ruined. i almost gave up until i found SharkHide so i polished it again and did step by step exact instructions i was given by the owner of the shark hide. yes a ton of work lot of cleaning or preparing for the coating but if done how its supposed to be done it works perfect and the finish stays now no more dulling on the polishing job. very very important call the owner his number is on all of his product best customer service i have ever experienced. just fyi after he tells you how to clean it dont call back till your 100 percent ready he dont care and is very nice but no further instructions will be given to you until you are done cleaning not 90 or 99 percent ready absolutely 100 percent done cleaning.. he will send a diagram for pontoons on the steps you take. call the number on the product its impossible to mess up if you do! awesome guy awesome product!

Awesome Product for Sealing Metals
It's a clear and very fluid product, no shaking needed (it doesn't seem to separate since I've owned it). I just pour it on to a disposal blue towel and wipe it on, it dries almost instantly. It designed to seal metals from the elements keeping them from rusting or aging. It dries very quickly but make sure what your coating has been cleaned to remove any oils, dirt and grease or it will not seal properly, expecially oils, it will make it streak if not. You can put on several coats or just one depending how long your wanting it to last before re-applying. It seems to act or be like some kind of clear lacquer but I'm not sure how lacquer would work on metals (not willing to try). It seems to work on keeping metal protected. I know most metal are ok to apply the product to but I haven't used it on all types. I'm thinking of using it on older sockets (chrome plated) that I've cleaned up to keep them from rusting again (rusted previously before using or know about this product) since I keep them out in the garage and it can get humid and cause them to rust again. I've used it on my bench vise since it's known to rust and a couple other tools to protect them and it's kept any signs of rust away. A little goes a very long ways, so this will last me probably my whole life. I wish it came in smaller sizes since this is quite a bit. I'm very happy with the product so far. I use SharkHide now or Ballistol oil on my tools to keep them in good condition.

Works great
Goes on easy. Only took half a can to cover my 22-foot car hauler. Make sure to wear a rubber or nitrile glove. It doesn’t burn the skin, but it makes cleanup a lot easier. Love this stuff!

Finally got it to work the way I wanted it to
I'm finishing steel decorative items and finally achieved the results I'm looking for. I'm not looking for a high polish but instead want the metal to have a grinded texture/look.I've been frustrated trying to get a clean application. I tried the white 100% cotton white diapers and the result was awful. Little bitty 1/8-1/4 threads were left to dry in the finish. So I tried 100% cotton white flour sack dish clothes. These worked better but still left a few tiny threads here and there so I washed and dried them. This improved results even a little more but still left an annoying thread here and there. After much wasted time, what worked for me were micro fiber wash clothes! It wasn't even a white one. Completely contrary to their FAQs..."Q: Can I use other items to wipe on SHARKHIDE?A: Since we've not tested all other types of applicators, we can only tell you to avoid the following things. Lint, textures (such as Teri Cloth, or Micro Fibers), dyes, detergent residue, dry cleaning chemicals, sponges or any thing else that will leave anything behind in the SHARKHIDE clear coat. Since a Cotton Baby Diaper has none of these properties, why not stick to that?"

Easy application - watch the YouTube video
This stuff is really expensive! Sure hope it lasts and prevents oxidation for a few years on my polished pontoons.
