Another kick ass live album of HUMBLE PIE.
The band released one of the best live albums in rock history - PERFORMANCE : ROCKIN ' THE FILLMORE . This disc recorded at the Fillmore East on 71 is unbeatable . But this Rockin The Winterland this can also be branded as unbeatable . The interesting thing is that the band excel in the recordings arenas managed by the rock n roll empresario Bill Graham. So when the band landed in San Francisco ,a radio station asked the grant to record and broadcast the show via King Biscuit Flower Hour. This disc edition is definitive. The band was at its peak of power and played like there was no tomorrow , like an angry machine of pure rock n roll. Steve Marriot and his introductory bant cries were increasingly incredible, with ever more soulful voice. Even the band plays some covers, like HALLELUJAH (also present in the show's Fillmore East on 71 ). Other highlights are the opening track UP YOUR SLEEVES, and covers C'MON EVERYBODY, HONKY TONK WOMEN and besides the fantastic, powerful and fast 30 DAYS IN THE HOLE. The quality of this WINTERLAND'73 is superb , with excellent production. Worth every penny invested .

Hidden Gem
Being a youth in the 70's I had heard of Humble Pie and knew of Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton. A few of their single releases played regularly on Planet Rock. Never had any of their album's so this was something of a revelation. Now constantly in the car CD. Wished I had managed to see them live back in the early seventies when they visited my home town. Marriott was very much under rated. Had a great voice. Sad he went they same way as many rock legends and succumbed to excesses of drink & drugs.

What no Frampton?
You know - despite what many will tell you, it wasn't the end of the world when Frampton left Humble Pie. Whilst Rockin' the Filmore will alawys be their definitive live album this is just as good. It's heavier and more in your face. More over it contains more original material. Plus, Of the two Marriott always got my vote over Frampton. Vocally he is on top form on this album. You must buy it.

Humble Pie, live and heavy!
This is a great live album with excellent sound quality. It really rocks from start to finish and comes very close to matching the classic Rockin' the Fillmore. Recommended!

Although good this is not a patch on Rockin the Fillmore
Although good this is not a patch on Rockin the Fillmore, different songs mainly and not as heavy.Cannot believe the cringworthy "singing" links between songs
