Very sturdy and easy to use

The media could not be loaded.  The StanSport Heavy Duty Rotisserie Grill was a good purchase for what I was looking for in a fireplace grill/rotisserie. I grill over hardwoods I collect from my yard (hickory and oak, and apple trees) at least three times a week and needed something indoors for day of bad weather. (Not to mention it helps lower my electric bills considerably).I had looked at this one, and the one from TexSport, which was almost identical aside with an added welded crossbar on the underside of the grillmesh. The StanSport has a crossbar on the bottom supports, but the item pictured here does not have the bottom crossbar installed. The StanSport was a bit less expensive but looked to have most of the same features.The StanSport grill fit perfectly into my fireplace, which is a medium to large fireplace with about 40" of vertical space. The assembly was very easy, and did come with simple directions. You can assemble the grill for either left or right hand rotation, but for right hand rotation it will place the adjustable thumbscrews on the backside of the rack, which makes it slightly harder to reach, but not really a problem overall. I was able to easily lower the grill surface and rotisserie part so that the foods would cook faster but slow enough to get a nice smoked flavor. The adjustability is quite nice and helps to keep the foods from being overcooked or undercooked, or for making a long cold-smoke on meats. The rotisserie is easy to switch positions and is generally stable when set into one of the four rotating positions.The construction is said to be from steel, which seems to be just thick enough to be sturdy, but still light enough for transport for using outdoors while camping, for example. The parts clean easily, and the finish seems to be good. The painted surface could possibly burn off over time, but I'm not sure the type used. It would be nice to know or have a product description from the manufacturer.The only two changes I would make is I would have liked to see a heavier gauge mesh on the grill surface to reduce warping in high heat, and some type of tension on the swing arms so they don't rotate at unwanted times. Neither of these were a deal breaker however.Overall, the value is great. This is made in China, but I suppose that's what keep the price down. I would recommend this product for general use, although would be a little light for everyday or commercial use. I'm quite happy with this grill and it will keep me from freezing in the snow and rain from trying to use my outdoor grill in bad weather. I may consider getting another one for my outdoor grill if this one holds up through the winter.

Very sturdy and can hold up in extreme heat

I'm so annoyed I didn't buy one of these long ago. No more toting the bbq camping. Easy to clean, worked great and the steaks were delicious. Perfect size

Quality exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately (for me) it is a little large for intended purpose but, I will definately be using it on camping trips, bonfires at the beach, and even on my property in the springtime. Really well made, solid, automatically imparts cross hatch grill marks. Can easily support a couple medium sized pots (full) or one large pot of conciderable weight. If cooking meats or veg directly on surface I recommend "cooking off the paint" to remove residual chemicals that may be present

Bought for camping, we like to prepare food and cook over the fire. This did exactly that, though with the leg structure you'll need to make sure the platform sits level. It will discolor from the heat, but that doesn't affect the product.

As advertised

It’s a shame to have to give it a 1 star as apart from this clear manufacturing problem it seem like a good piece of kit. We would have returned it but it’s a huge hassle and we are off on a 2 week camping trip next week so no time to return and get a new one.

Brilliant bit of kit, can be used over open fires or as a pot stand, I also use mine as a camp bedside table and to put my gas cooker on as its lower than my kitchen unit.
