Peace Love Ukulele

Jake is the reason I started playing ukulele in the first place. I can’t wait to master all of his songs. So far they’re not easy but I’m getting there.

I saw Jake perform in Carmel, CA last month, and sat in amazement watching him play that little four stringed ukulele like it was twice its size! This book has a lot of his popular songs in it, including Bohemian Rhapsody and While My Guitar Gently Weeps (bonus song), along with the rest of the songs on the album and Hula Girls.Playing the ukulele, I've looked up to Jake and have wanted to play like him. While I don't think I'll ever get to his level, I was able to follow along the tabs in this book and other people could tell what I was playing without me having to tell them. I was happy that the book included Hula Girl, because I tend to play more non-ukulele popular songs on it and keep thinking to myself that I need to play more traditional ukulele songs.The book is made just like any other tablature book, glossy cardstock cover, glue bound on the spine. You open it up to the title page and table of contents, then there's a couple of pages with photos of Jake performing, after which it goes right into the tabs. The tabs are laid out well, have the time signature at the top and the root cords on top of each line so you could accompany with a rhythm uke. They are a good size and easy to read, too.There are no instructions on how to read the tablature included with the book, but it is pretty easy and you could do a quick google search to learn how. If you like Jake's music and want to learn how to play his songs, you can't go wrong with this book. There aren't a lot of his tabs online in the tab websites, so it's nice to have official tabs that you know are actually correct! I purchased another one of his books shortly after this one and highly recommend any of his tab books! They won't help you to play as amazingly as him, but at least you can have the right tools to try!

Jake - what a master you are. I love my book, because these arrangements (and I have a good ear) are just about impossible if you are not very skilled on the ukulele in terms of transcription. I could do guitar all day, but I'd been at it a while trying to figure out the uke on these songs. They are all very well transcribed, the spacing between notes and phrases is generous, the typesetting clear and friendly, and the accuracy is quite good. I have used this to work through his version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I have a Kanilea K2 and it just sings so beautifully for these arrangements.Note, Jake's material is not for the beginner, and many of these chords are stretchy and will challenge you to them, but they are so worth the time that it takes to get them clear. I'll be honest, a few of them, I'm still trying to work out because they are that virtuoso level, but by and large, if you want a good book to start working out Jake's amazing material...this is the one. It has While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Hallelujah, as well as the aforementioned cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. I hope this review gives you the information that you are seeking to make an informed purchase decision. I own both the hard cover and Kindle versions of this.

I hate giving this song book anything less than full marks, because I am a HUGE Jake fan, but if you're going to buy one of his song books, go with Grand Ukulele, Live in Japan, or another. The biggest issue with Peace Love Ukulele is that most of the songs incorporate background music and/or multiple ukulele parts. This makes the majority of the songs virtually unplayable for a solo uke player, at least without some serious improvisation. Truly, the only songs I found of use were 143, Hallelujah, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. 143 and WMGGW you can get in other song books. I would definitely pass on this unless you are looking to own his entire collection.Transcriptions, as far as I can tell, are accurate. Just wasn't great for a casual, solo uke player such as myself.

The only class with this book is that it does not include definitions for some of the symbols used with the tablature. Was that wavy line meant to suggest vibrato? Is that one for a rapid strum? Only by listening to the CD while looking at the music could I figure the things out.Beyond that complaint, I truly enjoyed this book and found it very helpful in my ukulele journey.

This book is great!The skill level required for many of the songs are fairly high and would probably land on the intermediate/ advanced level.The notation is somewhat spot on, but here and there you'll find the occasional error.One major problem with the book is that it is often required to play two or three ukuleles. It follows the album obviously, but it constantly makes you feel short of hand, that you can't play this and that part etc.Nonetheless - this book is a solid must-have book in your collection of advanced ukulele tablature!

I enjoy jake shimabukuro and I thought i'd really like this book. So far I'm discovering that I should have reacquainted myself with these songs before buying the book. I don't actually really want to play a lot of these songs. That being said, the tabs and the notation are clear and easy to decipher. Its definitely for an advanced player with some time on their hands. I plan on learning a few of these this summer.

The tunes in this book are written for the more advanced ukulelists or those who don't mind practicing a lot... Most can be played alone but some of them have 3 or 4 parts - I did not see any advertising indicating that these are transcriptions for more than one player so be forewarned !!!

楽譜は英語版でも全く問題ありません。知ってる曲もあると見ているだけでときめきを感じます。しかし、購入時のAmazonの配送についてはよくありませんでした。配送員がドアポストもあるにも関わらず、投函口の狭い集合ポストに商品を無理矢理入れたため、最初の配送では背表紙が折られ返品せざるを得ない状況になりました。Amazonは交換対応してくれたものの、配達の乱暴さは改善されず、ポストを見た時唖然としました。2度目の配送分は中身がギリギリ無事でしたが改善を望みます。

４～９６ページに楽譜のみ１３曲。楽譜はコード付き音符とタブ譜の併記。曲によりUke.2用のリズム譜付き。数曲以外はオリジナル曲。知らない曲ばかりだったが、HULA GIRLがあり、そのJAKEの本なので購入した。HULA GIRLは0，7，12で弾き始めると思うが、この本は9，10，12。もっと違った弾き方も見たことあるので、これでもいいかな。細かい違いはあっても、全曲短縮無し。

Da ich schon imer ein großer Fan von Jake und seinen Liedern war und es mir aber viel zu schwer war, sie einfach "nach Gehör" zu spielen war ich sehr erfreut als ich gehört habe, dass es jetzt ein Buch gibt.2 Tage spaeter habe ich es mir auch gekauft und es is genau so wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe.Man sollte auf jeden Fall erwähnen, dass die Lieder(mit einer Ausnahme) wirklich nicht für Anfänger geeignet sind!Die Notation ist sehr übersichtlich und die Akkorde sind ebenfalls angegeben.Ich habe lange nach einem Ukulele-Tab-Buch für Fortgeschrittene Spieler gesucht und es endlich gefunden.Ich kann es (nicht nur für Jake Fans) SEHR empfehlen
