I've never had to do such a nasty hard concrete demo job as the one that forced me to look for solutions outside of the box. 3 cubic ft of solid concrete spiked with rebar all over leaned on a concrete wall that needed saving. So I bought me a beastly Makita SDS Hammer Drill HR4002 and a 2" drill bit as advised by the manufacturer for good measure. I've could've tried a 1" bit on my smaller SDS Milwaukee Hammer Drill but I risked wasting $100.- on a bit and not giving the expansion grout the necessary volume to work its magic. I'm glad I did. First day I drilled two holes 8" to the free and clear edge of the block as a trial, filled them up and returned next day to see the block cracked down almost all the way to the bottom even though my hole didn't reach quite half the way. Amazement ensued. So I drilled like 12 holes in all and pour the rest of the grout. In spite of the insane presence of rebars all over for a BBQ support.. it was no match for the 15.000 lbs expansion power of this grout. It opened it up enough for me to cut the rebar off. My only concern was not to damage the supporting columns of the cabana roof and CB wall, that's why I was very cautious NOT to get too close to it until the initial demolition would provide safe room to expand outwards. For the third and final stage of the job, pressed for time, I found a local lumber that carried the Dexpan. It's all the same I said. It wasn't, wether because it had passed its shelf life or something else I don't know. But it didn't work as fast or as well as the Ecobust I got from Amazon. And it came with Prime! Sadly, I couldn't take pics of the awesome results.

We have many boulders in our yard that we want gone. My husband, Captain Caveman, prefers the manual labor apprised to hiring someone. This stuff is amazing! The only reason I'm rating it a 4 rather than five star is it's a bit pricy.

It really works
In searching online I came across Ecobust , I am generally a skeptic about products like this and it looked like they were making some lofty claims. Rocks are hard to move without heavy equipment and I had five very large and heavy rocks in the way of a fire pit path. As with other reviewers, the same ideas came to mind, explosives, heavy equipment, laborious digging and lifting and none were a good option. I figured for $35, why not give it a try. I used a hammer drill to bore 1" holes 6 to 8 inches apart and about 8 to 10 inches deep. The rocks were all between 2 and 3 feet in size and over 1000 pounds. The drilling wasn't easy but within six hours of pouring in the slurry in the holes three of the rocks were so cracked up that I could pull them apart by hand without any tools. One was cracked the next morning to the same degree. The last was undrillable (with my tools) so that required a lever bar and a strong back. a large rotary hammer may have bore through this last rock.Overall a great product that really works and is easy to use. The instructions call for 1.5" bore holes but 1" worked well if the spacing is closer. With a bigger drill and 1.5" holes I probably could have drilled fewer holes but I'm very satisfies with Ecobust!

If you don't get hit with a monsoon rain and you order the right temperature this stuff works great. I had a lot of rain and the wrong temp and it still did a good job cracking the rock I need to take down. Will buy again, it's very useful.

I am so glad that I purchased it
I was skeptical that pouring this stuff would work! My husband convinced me to buy it. They use it in the mines to bust rocks where explosives can't be used. I am so glad that I purchased it. My daughter and son-in-law bought some property that had some huge rocks in the driveway. Hiring a contractor to remove these, was not in the budget. All I can say is this worked better than any of us imagined.

Made My Life Easy (that week)
We used this to break up some particularly hard concrete mountain that was a museum exhibit piece. This helped cut down noise and dust and really made our lives a lot easier that week. Would definitely buy again.

Works on thick aspahlt
Used this to break up some asphalt that was 18 to 8 inches thick. Used a 1" SDS Plus Bit as I don't have and SDS Max Hammer drill. Worked wonders. Spaced holes about 10" apart.
