When I purchased this item, for the price I thought I would get a toy like item. This was much more than that. I immediately took it outside and I was able to see the moon so clear. I was excited so I brought my kids and wife outside to also use it. Completely satisfied with the purchase.This portable hand-held monocular is of the highest quality at the price I paid. Yes, it's not junk. It's not top of the line either but you will get value for your money and that's important.Not world class optics...the image is a little fuzzy around the edges which is a dead giveaway that it's not a Leica. However, the image in the center is crystal clear.I backed way off...probably a hundred yards and aimed it at a small pot of flowers for the test. As crisp as ever. Dittos for a tree further off. I could make out each individual leaf. Bright picture with the sun out. The focus fit my eyes fine with my glasses off.It comes with a dinky little tripod that you wouldn't want your children playing with but it's perfect for my purposes. My purpose was to beat the high price of a really good spotting scope for fairly rare use.Having read the reviews I was struck that no one, even to the seller pointed out the obvious. It makes a dandy spotting scope on the shooting range (for the occasional enthusiast to be sure). It's compact....you don't have to ALSO lug a delicate armful of scope into the field. Small footprint and all that jazz. For my use the compact tripod is also perfect.So now I own an aid I wished I would have had 40 years ago and I don't feel guilty about it sitting in the closet gathering dust for 364 days out of the year.If you like to travel light or don't want to break the bank for a gee-whiz spotting scope then this is for you. Get it. You'll be thankin' me!

The quality of the unit is good for the price. It works well as a sight glass or low powered telescope. Light transmission is good, so you can see fairly well when lighting is not the best. The optical quality is ok, with excellent clarity in the center, but objects not in the center of the view are fuzzy (and I don't mean with fur!). The biggest letdown was the smartphone mount. The support arm is thin plastic which does not support the phone well, and it is held onto the telescope with friction only. The focus control is not very precise, and the tripod mounting socket is a bit too shallow, so it does not attach to the tripod securely. It is a decent value for casual use, but don't get your hopes up of creating your own moon shot wallpapers.

I have a Galaxy S9 and purchased this for some of those distant shots.The holder does not firmly hold your phone.Difficult to focus and capture any kind of image.Pictures are blurred and only clear in the center, even when the phone is zoomed in.Optics are horrible! JUNK, DO NOT BUYADDED NOTE:A small tripod is shipped with the scope. I don't know why because it is totally too small and delicate for this scope, and extremely poorly made! The tripod was dented from the box!! It's totally useless. This entire package is a waste of money!!You need 3 hands to set this up on your phone with any kind of precision and/or speed to take a picture.This is a total waste of your time and money. I can not recommend this product!

The scope itself is okay overall. Optics are what clear and adjusting is easy.The tripod and phone attachment are very low quality. It can’t hold my phone straight, nor does it work well. It’s just a price of plastic with a hole for the camera lenses to look through.The bag it came in smells like someone smoked a cigarette inside it before packaging.Highly recommend paying a bit more to get a better quality scope.

This monocular did magnify properly but I could not get a completely clear picture. I bought it to identify birds but could not make out colors or shapes completely. The phone hold works but again there is not a completely clear picture. I tried to just read a license plate from a few blocks away and it would not focus with my eyes or my phone.

I love this monocular, really easy to use and it’s good for traveling...I love the picture easy to handle.

The monocular isn't very powerful, but I could live with that - it's inexpensive, after all. What I hate is that the holder for a smartphone doesn't come with any instructions for putting it together. I may eventually be able to, although I don't consider myself very handy at such things even WITH instructions, but not including instructions means extra work in figuring out how everything goes together using only one mounting screw. Do not recommend.
