Great for DIY, with a few flaws.
Used these to build a bed from scratch and they worked fairly well. The only problem is that you'll want to counter sink even the machine screws so that they can tighten all the way down, otherwise they can bottom out on the wood you're working with.

Screws not long enough to hold in a 2x4.
This rail bracket was pretty stable, though not rock solid so there was a little play in the frame.I built a 2 x 4 frame for camp mattresses, and while carrying the frame one side fell and all the screws stripped out. You'll need to get longer replacement screws to use it with softwood.
