Very impressed!
This shaving oil is fragance free just as stated. I thought I would never find a shaving oil that worked better than my old standby ( it's a shaving secret). However, I didn't like the fragance but it worked well. The price kept getting higher which made me question it's overall value. The Crew shaving oil popped up when looking to restock my old standby. I have used Crew products before and have always been pleased with there products, except for price. When I saw their fragance free shaving oil for only a little more than my usual I decided to try it out ( I think it actually has more quanity). I really like this shaving oil. I feel like it works better than any other shaving oil I've used, including my oil standby. This oil seems to be a little more viscous than others and covers better with less. I also like the pump that is on the bottle as it is easier to control how much I use. I strongly recommend trying this product.

Smooth
I was looking for a device or method to give me nick free shaving in intimate area. I applied a drop or two and was able to get a very smooth shave. The scent is great and there is a slight cooling sensation after.

the same way I've tried several different blades (Feather and Blue Bird work best for me)
Everyone's skin and whiskers are different. I have tried several shave oils, the same way I've tried several different blades (Feather and Blue Bird work best for me), and several different shave creams (I like Prorasso and Art of Shaving but for the most part I haven't found much difference with shave creams). I have never found anything better than this American Crew shave oil, for me, but your skin may vary. I encourage you to try until you find what works for YOU. Without the help of reviewers here, I wouldn't have tried American Crew. Share and enjoy!First of all, go ahead and try regular old castor oil or even canola oil. You might find it works great for you. One reviewer certainly does, and what do you have to lose, it's in your kitchen right now.I actually first ordered this oil on Amazon from another item, listed as "American Crew Essential Shave Oil, 1.7 oz", and ended up receiving this one. I would encourage you to purchase from the product I am reviewing here, because the UPC in this product's description matches what is on my box, 738678240472. If AC really does make another product, I would hate to get anything else instead of this. For shave oils specifically, I have tried the above mentioned American Crew UPC 738678240472, Art of Shaving Pre-Shave Oil (AoS has the BEST Sandalwood scent), and The Body Shop Maca Root Wash Off Shave Oil. The Art of Shaving is the closest to using "cooking oil" and is actually the most expensive as well. The Ingredients for AoS are: "Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Fragrance/Parfum, Water/Aqua, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone". I find the AoS Pre-Shave oil to be too thick, and it does NOT protect my skin as well as the American Crew

The Best Shave Oil You'll Find
This is the best shaving oil I have used, and I go all the way back to KoS in 1995. This one shaves perfectly with my Leaf Thorn using Nacet, Lada, or Astra blades. No clogging the razor, rinses off the blades clean, and doesn't cause sink issues. The only complaint is that it has a slight clove smell, not as strong as S.S., but it is apparent. I would also like to see more scents become available. Still the best.

Better than messy shave oils and far less expensive
There are two things that bothered me about shave oil. First, the oil is down right messy. It gets all over the surface of the sink when shaving and then everything sticks to the oil. I don't want to clean my sink everytime after I shave. I suppose if you live alone and don't have a wife to nag you then this wouldn't matter to you. The oil causes the blade to clog with oil and hair. All you have to do to remove the oil on the blade is to rinse it under hot water, but I don't shave with hot water (more like luke warm). This means I would have to adjust the water temperature each time after I rinse the blade. Not a huge deal but a bit of a pain when your faucet is not single handled.Secondly, the oil products tend to be expensive. The oil products I used was "the original" shave oil and it claimed all you needed was three drops. I used that product for nearly 20 years and I can say it took more like 9-12 drops per shave. That's not a lot, but it comes in a tiny little bottle and runs out quickly at 12 drops per shave. The American Crew product gives me the same silky smooth shave as shave oils but is water soluble so it cleans up real nice and therefore doesn't make a message like oils. In addition, it is a pretty large bottle so I get 4-5 months out of each bottle. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because I am not crazy about the scent.

Preserves my razor bladez
I learned an old trick on how to make my razor blades last. Apply a drop or two after cleaning the razor blades. Prior to storing the razor blades, I place a drop or two of this oil on the blades. My blades last 50% more!

Great shave oil for sensitive skin
I like this product and feel it lubricates well with my razor shaving systems (straight and electric) for my head and face. It is a light oil and washes off well without clogging up your shaver. Try it, you will like it and throw away your shaving cream.
