Best Mattress I Have Ever Slept In - Period.
I write a lot of Amazon reviews positive and negative, most are shorter as most readers don't want to read a dissertation length review but a mattress purchase is a long term item one will use for 8 to 12 years maybe longer and is so personal and what is conforming yet supportive to one is too firm for another. So I wanted to give back to potential customers since so many reviewers helped me in my decision.I have had multiple Myeloma since 2001 at age 43, an incurable blood cancer that among other things causes all my bones to continually deteriorate. I have 4 fractured vertebrae. 2 of them, T5 T6 that are between the shoulders are "fractured and collapsed" per say as their all but dust and have no discs between them. All my discs are degenerative some are gone completely. My right hip has started to become involved causing pain, my shoulders and ribs and spine were all diagnosed Osteoporitic at the time of diagnosis and have only become worse. We had an expensive very thick pillow top, top of the line Sterns and Foster queen spring mattress and box spring set. It was on the medium plush side when newer, very comfy, but it was already 3 years old when I was diagnosed so for the last 6 years it has slowly deteriorated. And was a single sided pillow top so we could rotate but no flipping over. It was around $2,500 for the set back then. The last 2 years it progressively got worse. Waking up in more pain not less. It was getting old for a non flippable spring mattress.Every morning my spine and hip was worse and my wife's hip issues were worse every morning and we both were having progressively worse night sleeps with more pains in the morning.Due to my cancer we spend most of our money on daily and bi weekly chemotherapies, hospital stays, all of the supporting medications, office visits, gas etc. so we kept putting off replacing the old mattress because a quality store queen set can run upwards of $4,000 since we were finally looking into the memory foam/latex setups plus adjustable bases to help remove pressure points as frequent hospital visits weeks at a time proved that even slight leg and head adjustment creates a much more comfortable sleeping position. Trying adjustable bases in the mattress stores backed this up.We found our perfect set, two twin XLs on separate adjustable bases making up a larger than king setup at Original Mattress factory. Literally $4,000. $2,000 for the 2 adjustable bases and $2000 for the 2 memory foam mattresses.More than we wanted to spend but we had saved for years. Then I researched as I always do and found the Original Mattress factory warranty, return (not)etc was horrible, impossible to get coverage even when it sags beyond the warranty sag amount, no returns, no trail period and since you know the floor model is old and broken in the new one never matches the floor model etc.I started seeing write-ups on mattress forums about the hyper over priced retail mattress racket and the savings that could be found buying online. Finding as high or higher quality can be found from Internet shipping only mattress companies. So after lots of research, needing/wanting a soft comfy top because of all of my broken bones but needing a conforming no pressure point supporting mattress, but also firm enough support and not overly soft because that means improper alignment and uneven pressure points. I needed/wanted feels soft on top, easily conforming to proper alignment in spine, shoulders and hips while also just firm enough to then hold up that conforming mold. All while also not sinking me into a marshmallow can't move situation like most memory foam setups. With Multiple Myeloma comes body temperature fluctuations, inability to regulate body temperature, and the chemotherapies and bone marrow transplant makes it worse. In the old spring mattress 8/10 nights I would wake in the middle of the night drenched in sweat head to toe. Didn't matter if it was summer or winter.Knowing memory foam mattresses have a history of body heat issues was another reason I gave this mattress a try with its cooling gel infused foam layer. I was hopeful it wasn't just a sales gimmick. Many reviewers stated it works. Some reviewers rated this mattress as kind of firm, others plush with enough firm support. Others medium almost medium plush. With the large amount of high reviews I took the chance. And at $179 it was a $820 savings over the OMF memory foam. I coupled it with the:Classic Brands Twin XL , Comfort Adjustable Bed Base with Massage. On sale for $380, a $620 per side savings $1240 total savings over the OMF Twin XL adjustable bases. Total $4000 OMF versus this mattress x 2 and 2 bases at $1,118, a savings of $2,882, and delivered in 2 days to our front door. No worries of driving into town as we live in the country 45 minutes from town. Loading it up, unloading etc. Nope. 2 days, free shipping, on the porch. After opening mid afternoon and allowing it to expand I slept on it that night. The first few nights as it was still completing it's expansion it was slightly firmer but into the 4th night it started breaking in.I LOVE this mattress. It is THE most comfortable mattress in every way I have ever slept in.My every morning hip pain has never occurred sleeping on this mattress. Instead of my spine hurting more in the morning it hurts less. It's an odd feeling. It feels soft on top and on initial lay down. You can feel it is softly conforming to your body but NOT sinking in. It conforms, aligns the body and I feel ZERO pressure points anywhere, I say it's odd because I have never had a feeling of no pressure points anywhere in any mattress and it's kind of soft on top but you don't sink in, moving is easy, and while the lower layer gives firm support and the firmness feels like it may end up being too firm to be comfortable somehow it's not, it's just the right mix.The cool gel infused top layer works 3 weeks now and not one sweating episode. It takes your body heat and uses it to create a pocket of just the right temperature and removes any excess that would cause an overheating issue. The cool gel top works as advertised.I LOVE this mattress. It has a soft enough top layer, and while it seems a little more on the medium firm side it somehow is also just a perfect mix of materials, layers, layer thicknesses. And for the price I don't care if it only lasted 2 or 3 years. I would purchase it again. I told my wife I almost want to buy a backup and store it in the attic in case years from now it is no longer available or they change it somehow in a way I don't like.

If they still make it years from now I'll likely buy it again.
I bought this mattress in the end of April and decided to wait to review it just in case something ended up going wrong with it. First off, 30 years old, 5'9" and 140lbs. It kind of bothers me when people review mattresses and don't include their body type. There is no mattress out there that is going to be great for every body type. Second, I have Ankylosing Spondylitis which is a rheumatic disease similar to rheumatoid arthritis but it mainly affects my spine. Specifically, my thoracic, lumbar, and sacrum (the bone that connects your spine to your hip bone). Needless to say, I live, and will continue to live, with back pain of varying degrees for the rest of my life. I have always preferred a firm mattress because I am, well used to be, a stomach sleeper. However, after 11 years of A.S. I can't do it anymore. I had a memory foam mattress years ago, it was very comfortable, I slept well in it, but when I woke up in the morning I was so stiff it felt like someone had beat me with a phonebook. Sitting or laying in one position for too long makes people that have A.S. hurt more. Anyone that has had a memory foam mattress knows that stuck feeling.I know that is a long setup to a review, but all of that comes into play when it comes to how comfortable a mattress is for me. After four months I can say I am very happy with my purchase and would have paid more for it if I had to. I actually bought a different mattress before this one but it ended up being too firm for me. There was nothing wrong with it, I just still had the mindset of liking a firm mattress when in reality I need a medium firmness. This mattress has the right combination of comfort characteristics that I need. This mattress is firm enough I don't sink in so far as to become the shape of a shallow bowl and soft enough that my hips don't have sore spots on them the next morning. A firm memory foam mattress that I returned before I bought this mattress caused me to have those sore spots. By far the best part of this mattress is the Energex foam layer. The Energex foam bounces back instantaneously. I did some research and it actually bounces back and provides more support after it absorbs body heat. I never have that stuck feeling I had with my memory foam mattress. Morning stiffness will always be a part of my life no matter what I sleep one, but it is much less pronounced with this mattress. I can finally sleep longer than an hour at a time. I finally don't feel tired all day every day.The build quality is very good. The cover is well made and very soft and the thin pillow top layer adds a little bit of the laying on a cloud feeling. All of the corners of the mattress were even with no bulging lumps or indentations. One complaint people have mentioned is the edge support. Like many other foam mattresses, edge support can be a problem. However, for me, it hasn't been so far. When I sleep my torso is usually about a foot away from the edge and my knees about six inches away. I have never had the feel that I was going to roll out of bed. In fact, unless I lay on my side with my knees sticking out over the edge or on my stomach with my arm hanging down off the mattress, I don't feel like I'm going to roll off at all. Also, this bed is very comfortable for laying on your back. I do when I watch TV before bed. I sink just enough that my lower back is supported but still in a straight line from head to toe. In fact, I have actually been able to sleep on my back when I had to due to a recurring problem with a vertebra that slips out of place in my lumbar spine. That's right, not a slipped disk, a slipped vertebra. When my vertebra slips out of place I have no option but to sleep on my back since it takes the most pressure off my spine allowing it to slide back in place. When my vertebra would slip and force me to sleep on my back ,on my old mattress, I would maybe get a combined 45-90 minutes of sleep each night. All that being said, comfort is going to come down to your body type, any physical issues, and preferred sleeping position. If you are on the heavy side you may sink in too much and start to feel pressure on your hips or shoulders. If you are lighter than me you will probably still enjoy this matters, especially with the pillowtop layer. Finally, I don't get hot on this mattress. I don't notice any difference in temperature compared to my spring mattress probably due to the Energex foam's temperature regulation characteristics and not sinking into one position all night. I live in Phoenix, Arizona so a hot mattress is not an option.By the way, the mattresses really are made here in the USA. After selecting the free 7-10 day shipping I received my bed in 4 days. Confused by the shipment tracking detail I looked up more information on the company Dreamfoam Bedding. Turns out it is a family owned business that manufactures their mattresses right here in Phoenix, Arizona. No wonder they don't sleep hot.Well, this was a long review, but I hope it helps. I am really happy with the mattress and when I remember how much I paid for it I get even happier. It's no easy for someone with back problems like me to find a mattress that is comfortable. It used to take an hour, sometimes two, for the morning pain and stiffness to subside with my last two mattresses. Now it only takes 30 minutes to an hour. For me, that is a big win! A couple month after I bought this mattress a coworker asked me, "how's that mattress you bought on Amazon working out?" That's when I realized I hadn't thought about my mattress lately, which was a good thing. Before buying this mattress I used to think about how much I hated my mattress daily. β
