If you have never worked with VMware workstation, this ...
If you have never worked with VMware workstation, this book may prove to be helpful, though dated. Technology is constantly changing, and it's hard for paper publications to keep up. So with that in mind, you can still get a general idea about what VMware Workstation is, and what you can do with it.

Virtual becomes real
Helps me to build a lab w/o having all the physical components. So much easier to work with and it's portable!

Yes, this is good. Especially for the price. It quickly brings a prospective or new user up to speed on the basics.

good read
condensed info, easy to follow, great read to get started in VM Workstation. The same series on VCAC or other tools in suite would be great

If you just stating with the virtualization (especially VMware workstation/player) right now, then this is you book.
If you are just starting with the virtualization (especially VMware workstation/player) right now, then this is your book. But there are informations also about some rarely used or advanced settings (e.g. editing .vmx files, advanced VMDK management, vSphere connection), so it could help you even if you are using Workstation for a while. It describes from the beginning step by step how to build a small/home virtualized environment, and how to manage/configure it. Very logical, easy to understand. There is even a chapter about how to setup your vmware account, and download, purchase the workstation. There are lots of screenshots, which also help to understand the setup steps quickly and easily. Both host platforms are included: linux, and windows.

Review
Being one of the tech reviewers for this book, I have of course read through it multiple times, so will add my review here. This is a great book if you are new to VMware Workstation, and being fairly short (around 100 pages), it reads well and is to the point. It contains information on every aspect of setting up Virtual Machines, their configuration, networking and other tasks such as snapshots and remote management, so it really does a great job of getting the beginner up to speed, yet also contains information to keep those more interested in the more technical bits happy too. It covers these topics from both a Windows and Linux host type 2 hypervisor perspective.

What More Need I Say
I have no experience with VMware whatsoever. Using this book as a guide I have a workstation running Windows 7, Win XP and Linux up in running in a few hours.
