Quality product, excellent for the professional sculptor.
I use this clay for sculpting life size figures that are cast in Bronze. I’ve used it for years and it’s better than ever now. I recently purchased three cases of tan medium and it’s perfect for use here in Florida.

The Perfect Clay
J-Mac Classic Clay 225 is smooth yet very firm. Its strong enough to hold its structure at room temperature, but if you warm it with a lightbulb, it turns to mush, which is great for build-up. It textures easily but is not sticky. It really is the perfect clay for professional sculptors.

Soft and Sticky
This clay is sticky and soft. Not what I'd hoped for. However, after experimenting with my tools, I found the silicon color shapers by royal sovereign did not stick. That said, I bought 50 lbs of the stuff, beige, and wish I'd spent the money on something else. As near as I can figure, this clay needs to be on an armature, and modeled with tools. Silicon tools. I read somewhere that to smooth this clay, use Fast Orange hand cleaner. I'm no where near the final smoothing. Also, work large, imo. And try not to touch it. I'm guessing Fast Orange will clean your hands. Let me see, what other tips can I offer... it hardens up some if you arent holding it, as I was, but the minute I pick it up, it sticks to my fingers and non silicon tools. Clay Shapers, also silicon.. beware And make certain they are silicon. I honestly hate this clay, but it is not the clay's fault. It is my failing, as a sculptor, to research the clay instead of impulsively buying it. Delivery was fast fast, box durable, and I would buy from company again. Just not this clay.

The very best professional clay
I've been using Classic Clay for years. It's what my foundry uses, and I met the inventor and talked to him at length about it at the Loveland show in Colorado not long after he created it. You can melt it and spray or paint it on (and it sticks to pretty much anything, such as the wood in my carriage shown above and the Styrofoam in the monumental horse), you can put it in the freezer to get crisp details like the ears of the carriage horse, you can soften it and moosh it around with your fingers if you want, etc. There is NO SMELL to it, which is a HUGE advantage over Chavant clay, which has a sulfur smell even in the non-sulfur clay because it goes through the same rollers at the factory (I asked the president of Chavant about it when I met him at a Loveland show - he told me about them going through the same rollers). Chavant clay can set off my asthma even if someone across the room is using it. Classic never loses its quality, even if it's been melted and hardened over and over. Also, you can pull a tool through Classic and get the cleanest line you've ever seen in clay - very little to no crumbles along the edges. It's a fantastic product. I've included some pictures of pieces I've done in Classic Clay. It holds up well with less armature than usual, you can get crisp or soft edges, etc. I always buy Classic and insist my students do, as well.
