Does make black garlic if you ignore the instructions and on-machine display.
I've given it 3 stars because, although I did get black garlic, I am sure I wouldn't have if I'd followed the directions in the user manual or paid attention to the hours remaining on the display. Having read the other reviews about getting burnt and bitter results I thought I'd check my garlic on day 8 (100 hours left on the display) and found it was done perfectly. So, the instructions to ferment for 12 days is actually 4 days too long. The other thing that bothers me a bit is the lack of a CE mark on the machine. I'm not that confident that it's truly safe so it's kept in the shed (although I'd be massively upset if my shed burned down). The other concern is that the handbook customer service section says to "visit our website" but there is no website (and no phone number, name or address) I have no clue who makes or sells this thing because there's absolutely nothing on the machine or in the user guide regarding a manufacturer or distributor. I'm surprised Amazon sells these because it seems to contravene all UK retail laws. I'll keep it because it does make black garlic (if you ignore the instructions) and I adore black garlic.
