I really enjoyed reading the book.It gives a glimpse of background on Mande Muda and Pak Herman Suwanda.The book shows the Silat styles that make up Mande Muda.I wish the book had more in depth coverage of the Silat styles of Mande Muda.As a matter of fact, that is one of the reasons I didn't give it a 5 star.The other reason is that the book had about 2 chapters covering the Indonesian History. I would've prefered less coverage of the Indonesian History and more coverage on the Indonesian Silat.The Indonesian history chapters are outlines. I fell asleep most of the time in history class during grade and elementary school in Indonesia. So I guess this was a good way for me to catch up *haha*Nonetheless a good book on Mande Muda history. I wouldn't recommend this book if you're looking at technique or jurus illustrations. There are other Silat books that cover techniques and jurus better.

As a student of a student of Pak Herman's, this has been a great read. Pak Herman talks about his passion for spreading Silat, and the struggles he had in passing on his knowledge and building a school. For me, it helped to explain a few things I had learned and fleshed out my vocabulary for the whole Mande Muda system. the afterwords (particularly from Steve Tarani) are great. FWIW, the kindle formatting could be better. Some of the pictures and pages do not line up correctly. I'm thankful that Pak Herman was able to write this before his untimely death.

The book for me is walking me through the life struggles and acheivments of the Silat master Pendekar Herman Suwanda. I'm humbled and reifnforced as I see even in his struggles, he remained positive, gave glory to God and was determined in pursueing his dream. I'm still in the proccess of reading this book. I hope one day I will learn the true art of Silat and am able to pass it down to my children. I also hope that I am able to see Indonesia one day. I believe Indonesia is very unique. I believe that Indonesia is and need only be self-sufficient. To make Indonisea sovereign through it's traditions.

This book is very educational, I am a big fan of the author and wish I had the privilege of training with him. I practice this form of Silat with my master, and his picture is actually in this book!!

The media could not be loaded.  I like the book but they messed the book up before delivered.I payed $30 for a destroyed package

can't fault this book, it is a martial art i haven't studied before and found most useful
