Works at Cone 6! I'm impressed and happy.
The customer requested a gray colored custom yarn bowl with her friend's cat - she wanted to give it as a Christmas gift. I usually make my glazes, but didn't have a gray glaze on hand, and no time to do more than a single test. This gray at cone 6 does just fine. All grays have different undertones. Some are blue, some are green, this one electric fired at cone 6 on a red stoneware clay is a yellow tinged gray. You don't really see yellow, just that it is tinged toward yellow rather than blue or green. I call it a battleship gray.I found that a black underglaze goes a long ways toward creating a darker gray glaze if the gray is also layered just once. Worked a treat on creating a blanket for the kitty on the bowl.I also found the tech lady at the Duncan office to be very helpful when I called to make sure this glaze would be safe to fire at cone 6. ( NO runny glaze all over the kiln shelf!)Anyways, I'm all round happy with this product. I look forward to testing it at lower temps to see how the color looks now that I have some breathing room after the Christmas rush.
