Power Bright PB-12 US to UK 3-Prong Travel Outlet Plug Adapter

We just spent a week in London visiting family and stayed at a local hotel. When we were packing we discovered that we needed something quickly to put in our luggage so we could charge cameras, razors, etc. while there. We use Amazon Prime, and this was the best, cheapest option to come up. Some of the reviews made it seem that the product was defunct with slippage in the connection, etc. However, newer reviews gave me confidence that this might have been a batch problem in the past and was no longer an issue. We got ours the day before our flight, tucked it away and didn't think twice about it. It worked perfectly for us. The connection into the socket was solid, and we had no issues with the US side slipping or being lose. Everything connected perfectly. For a mere $5 it's a perfect option. Now, something to keep in mind is that we used this daily for a week, and only a week. I don't have extensive travel time, and haven't given it more than a weeks use. But I figure that's enough time to get a sense of what a $5 option can give for value. I'd recommend it for all travelers if you're in need of a quick, cheap option (given Amazon Prime). I used these plug adapters on a recent trip to England and Ireland. Prior to leaving on the trip, I checked every charger for the electronic devices (laptop, iPad, iPhones, camera and electric razor) we were taking with us to ensure they were designed to work on either 120 volts or 240 volts. Everything worked perfectly using these plug adapters, and there was no need to buy and carry a bulky power converter on the trip. Again, it is very important to read the fine print on each device to verify it is designed to operate on 240 volts. Most dual voltage electronic device chargers will work on either 120 or 240 volts without any intervention from the user. Other dual voltage devices such as hair driers have a small switch that must be manually set to the desired voltage to avoid damaging the device. One should never plug a device that was designed solely to operate on 120 volts into a 240 volt power source. Doing so will likely burn out the device rendering it potentially dangerous. Unless the device specifically states 120/240 volts, don't plug it into a 240 volt socket. Remember, these are plug adapters, NOT POWER CONVERTERS. As such, they only allow a US designed plug to fit into a UK designed socket. They do not step the power down from 240 volts to 120 volts.

TL;DR Took apart, it is safe , well constucted ,but could use better grounding. Overall would recommend over universal adapters.I took the one I ordered apart (scuffing/destruction marks) to see if it was safe and well constructed, and I am please to say that it is. It holds plugs well as it uses the plastic to apply spring tension rather than just the contacts. It make little contact with the ground pin but that could just be because of the rounded US ground pin. Overall would recommend over any universal adapters.

The last time I went to the UK I had this wonderfully built, strong, durable adapter that lasted for four months and probably would have been good for many more. Sadly I lost it which is why I bought this this one.It worked well enough for 6 days, but then when I went to take it out this morning it broke into two pieces and three little brass electric contact points (?) went flying everywhere! Needless to say it was broken beyond repair. I had to hike quite a distance in Dublin to find another one, talk about a near disaster!I would say find a better quality, name-brand product and stay clear of this item.

I was hesitant to order one of these because older reviews noted (1) the item didn't look like the one in the picture; (2) The US plug was loose fitting. However, the newer reviews indicated that there were no problems, so I went ahead and bought one for a recent trip to England. Mine looked just like the pictured item, and worked perfectly. I used it for my MacBook Pro power supply (which requires a 3-prong outlet, but is compatible with 240 UK voltage). Plugged it right into the desk outlet in my hotel room -- everything was fine.

I bought one of these back in 2010 for my first visit to the UK to see my fiance (boyfriend at the time), I stayed there for almost 2 months and used it mostly for my laptop with no real trouble. I just spent 6 more months over there using this for my laptop again and still had no real troubles to speak of, the only issue I've found at all with this adapter is what a few others have noted about it pushing plugs back out because of the spring inside. This wasn't much of an issue for my laptop plug as it was three pronged, though once or twice it was minorly loosened and had to be adjusted slightly to regain charge in my laptop, it was mostly only a problem for my phone charger. That being said however I actually got it to work just fine for that as well it just took a bit of proper pressing to secure the charger cord into it before plugging the adapter in and it stayed in just fine. The adapter I got doesn't look quite like the one pictured here as it also allows for other countries plugs to be adapted to UK using it as well, it isn't perfect but it has worked just fine for me so far. If you want something a bit easier (as in not spring loaded) then you may want to look elsewhere, but if you want a nice quick, easy and inexpensive adapter then this seems suitable to me for chargers and similar things, perhaps not a gaming console or other device that needs constant connection to remain on, just in case you haven't secured it properly.

The shipping was very fast. The adapters seem quite good and seem to hold everything I plan to use securely enough. It hard to find a decent quality adapter and these seem to do the trick.

Purchased this adapter for my recent trip to the UK. Worked well for the first few uses but whatever the mechanism was to hold the plug in broke and the plug would just slip out. After 4-5 tries I was able to plug in my blackberry charger in but it had to be sitting just right. With other items we tried to plug in, we could not get it to work. Price is good and shipping was as promised...just wish I didn't need to buy a new one for my next trip!

Shipping was great and it arrived on time, but the prong holes are too large to even hold a plug - they fall right out!

What I received isn't exactly what I expected. North American plugs will fit but very loosely and can easily pop out. Very cheaply made.
