Q: Can a canopy be added

Yes if you can get one to fit, I have just brought some sails on Amazon and fitted them. I found some great cheap sails on here, available in different colours and sizes, so I can change ever year, prices from £14.99 hope this helps.

Yes the base will be smaller by quite a bit

No it does not come with feet. I am making my own with small wood blocks but you can buy 90mmx90mm metal 'post shoes'. Try CNS Powertools or search Amazon.
