I purchased the LARGE sized shorts, and (for me) it's a loose/baggy fit. The leg width is about 1.5 inches too wide, but it's good for lounging around the house.I also bought the MEDIUM sized shorts. It also fits, but it's obviously more form-fitting but not too tight. I prefer the MEDIUM, but others might prefer the LARGE. So, check the measurements before purchasing.Also, the shorts with zipper pockets have a fake/faux zipper fly. The shorts without zipper pockets have a real zipper fly.My current stats:height = 6 footweight = 192 poundswaist (measured at waistline below love handles) = 36 3/4I've attached images of the Large and Medium sized measurements:

Very comfortable and fit as expected but fly zipper is defective. It opens while zipped up with no stress or pulling. Can't wear 'em out of the house! Unfortunately discovered this after wearing 'em out of the house.

PROS -- well constructed and truly functional elastic waist -- excellent medium weight classic sweatpants material quite soft and comfy -- XL is comfortable loose fit on a 40 inch waist -- for a more snug fit on a 40 inch waist feels the L large would work just fine.CONS -- side-zippered pocket openings definitely on the small side although pocket depth will handle your mobile phone. Plastic zippers themselves more on the frail side and when open, combined with small pocket openings are not hand-warmer friendly.Yes, would purchase again. Product a perfect match as advertised.

Arrived with huge hole in right pocket. Rather than bother sending it back, I'll sew it...but buyer beware. I bought a few different sweat shorts at the same time on Amazon and these are my least favorite because of the small back pocket with annoying velcro closure that I have to pull apart every time I put my iPhone back there. It's also a shallow pocket, so iPhone is more precarious back there than in my other sweat shorts.And then the hole...discovered that walking down the sidewalk and all my change falling out all around me. Never bought anything that already had a hole in the pocket before!

I use these shorts for pajama pants to sleep in (or lounge around the house on a lazy day). They fit well, are soft and comfy, and I really like the side zipper pockets. The only negative is that after the first time you wash them, there are a lot of loose strings at the bottom of the legs. Now there is a seam sown in near the bottom of the legs so these will not continually fray, but when you first pull them out of the dryer for the first time it is slightly shocking to see how many threads a small pieces of material need to be cut off. I would definitely buy them again if I needed to replace one, but be forewarned that you will spend about 5 minutes trimming material and threads after the first wash. If not for this, I would rate this product a 5.

Few inches above the knee, not what my hubby was comfortable with. Looks good, comfortable, deep pockets & my husband thought they were great IF they weren’t so darn short. We have to return them. He’s 5’11” & a slim athletic build & these shorts looked like they were from the 70’s....’Who wears short shorts...’ lol.

I bought an XLarge which fits my 39” waist with some room to spare. The version I got was with a fly zipper and no pocket zippers. The shorts are very light weight and comfortable to wear and that’s where the positives end. My biggest complaint and the reason for the 3 stars is if you look carefully at the photos at the legs. The legs are stitched nicely, but instead of being folded over they were cut about ¼” below the stitching. That leads to a very frayed look after a couple of days of wearing them and as others have observed lots of strings after you wash them.Basically, they just weren’t finished. Perhaps they are seconds? I didn’t return them, because of the hassle and because they meet my messing around the house needs. I certainly wouldn’t consider going out with them. Thus, my 3-star rating. At this price the quality just isn’t there and there are better alternatives; especially if you want a pair to go out with.

The media could not be loaded.  This is the third time i've ordered these shorts because I love them so much and decided to order the green because the green pictured is one of my favorite shades of green. I was shocked to discover that the green that I received was not even close to the green pictured. The green you will receive is more of an army/OD green, NOTHING like the green pictured. I love the shorts but that picture is very misleading, I will be returning them.

Its too LOOSE All Around for a "LARGE", and compared to other equivalent brands in LARGE.I got several colors, and the fit is inconsistent, unfortunately and each leaning on largely loose.I wish i had ordered Medium in this, in spite of every other brand i order Large.Otherwise, if not for the "baggy" fit, it wud be perfect in terms of price, quality and finishing.
