This Night Falls Forever, set for release on August 24, 2018 via Concord Records, is DeVotchKa’s most ambitious album yet with more detailed arrangements, more people involved including full orchestras and an overall bigger sound. The band’s sixth studio album features 10 tracks written and produced by frontman Nick Urata. The vinyl edition features 3 sides of music and an exclusive vinyl etching on the 4th side.

Had some technical issues with the pre-ordered MP3 format not showing up in my music library for about 16 hours (not sure if that's an issue with the MP3 version or something specific to the pre-orders), but worth the wait! Everything has DeVotchKa's distinctive sound, but the songs themselves are still fresh and not repetitive. Every song felt like "oh, this one's going to be my favorite from this album" until the next song came on and I thought the same thing about it.

This album was worth the wait!
Devotchka is my favorite band so I will do my best to not be bias. Nick Urata's voice exudes passion and is absolutely beautiful. The entire band plays with magnificent precision. I own every album and this one does not disappoint. This is definitely worth your time and money. Then go see them live when they play in your area. You will have an absolutely memorable evening.

Cinema Paradiso
Wanted to give this 4 1/2 stars but couldn't - it's nearly perfection. This Night Falls Forever may not be as musically diverse as past Devotchka efforts, but it has a grand cinematic quality that unifies the record and really pulls you in after repeated listenings. The songs are mini epics about loss, lost love, regret, the evanescence of time, and a kind of wounded but resilient faith - each could stand alone as the theme to a different movie of your life. To my mind the standout tracks are "Straight Shot," "Lose You in the Crowd," "Empty Vessels," and (the lovely) "Second Chance," though I like several others, and while not as strong as the 1st half the 2nd still contains several worthy efforts. At its best there is a gorgeously tragic element to both the music and lyrics that makes this perfect listening as evening turns to dark.Give This Night Falls Forever a second chance, and then a third - you'll be glad you did.

Still magical
After all these years, Devotchka remains one of my favorite bands. Beautiful, magical tunes, so glad to never lost them as a fan. Hope to see them live again someday.

a very different, compelling, over the top CD
this band has reached their peak with this CD, transcending rock and alternative and marrying classical influences, with happy, happy, happy sounding music......lyrics are usually about breaking up and getting back together.....but what a fun ride..... RIYL future lslands

Another great DeVotchka CD
If you are a DeVotchka fan this CD continues in their tradition. All sorts of types of music coupled with great singing. I am very happy to have bought to have in my collection.
