Yin Yoga for EVERY Body: How to Support Your Yin Poses with Props

good try - not ideal for a beginner.
the book was written in a nice enough manner by someone that loves yoga. unfortunately for me, if you are new to yoga, this book is not an easy intro. the best purchaser is someone familiar with yoga practice already, and wanted to read up on this particular style. if you don't attend yoga classes yourself, or don't have that class history to help, it's difficult to get what to do in the pictures, and there's not alot of discussion around each pose to help the reader know the ideal points of each one (not just what to do, but specifically what NOT to do to avoid injury). I think if I had a yoga class I was attending as well, in addition to reading the book, it would have been a better fit, as then I could ask questions about the asanas, etc.

Great book for all experience levels!
A very thorough and well written book! The introductory chapter describes the author’s personal journey to yoga which gives the reader a sense of connection with the author. I love that this book provides many photos of the various yin poses with and without the use of props. This is really helpful in sustaining the poses which benefit the body's connective tissue. What I found exceptional is the level of detail provided for each pose, allowing the most inexperienced individual the ability to not only do the poses properly but to understand and experience the wonderful results yin yoga offers. This book and the poses have done wonders in relieving my back, hip and pelvic pain. I recommend this book for those interested in yin yoga. I would also recommend this book if you teach or practice restorative yoga.

Great resource for Yin modifications
I am a physician and I frequently recommend Yin to patients so I was thrilled to see this book.Yin is a very different style of yoga that is finally getting the recognition and demystification that it deserves. If you would like to increase range of motion and make it less likely that you hurt yourself the next time you bend over, then Yin Yoga is for you.I've been practicing Yin Yoga 1-3 times per week for several years. The benefits are too numerous to list but suffice to say that Yin is critical to keeping those annoying aches and pains that settle in my back, neck and hips at bay. I sleep better, my mood and mental acuity are improved, and my body feels more resilient because it has more fluidity.Yoga can be intimidating and one of the greatest strengths of this book is that it emphasizes that Yin is accessible to everyone. The author gives terrific suggestions on how to use props to support or enhance poses. She gives detailed cues and lists numerous variations that allow the reader to find the position that is best for them. This point is beautifully emphasized with the use of photos that demonstrate the various forms a pose can take. Additionally, she offers the reader suggestions on how to construct a sequence of poses to achieve various goals.I see this book as a great resource to those who are new to Yin, as well as seasoned yogis who are looking for creative suggestions on how to fine tune and modify familiar poses. An added bonus is the writing style which I found to be appropriately descriptive, yet engaging.

Outstanding! This is a very approachable guide to Yin Yoga no matter what your experience.
After reading multiple books and articles on Yin Yoga, this book is a refreshing take on the practice. It explained Yin yoga in a direct way that was understandable. It provided detailed instructions and excellent photos on each pose, with a variety of props to make it accessible for everyone. The layout of the book included floor and wall poses. The book also provides several well organized classes, with an explanation of how to put together yin yoga sequences. I highly recommend this book. An EXCELLENT addition to your yoga library.

If you are looking for a book to help you get the most out of your personal Yin practice, this is the book for you! There are great explanations on how to use props to make each pose your own. Included are a couple of Yin yoga sequences so you have ready made classes to take in your own home. It's a great book for beginner yogis and Yin yoga teachers.

It really is for EVERY body!
Sue does such a beautiful job explaining how to get your students into and out of the poses and she offers a variety of props to use to support them- whatever their range of motion or degree of flexibility may be. She truly makes it easy for an instructor to teach EVERY body. The photos and descriptions are invaluable but the real gem is the way she gives the instructor the appropriate vocabulary to talk to your students. Describing each pose, where and how things MAY be feeling, what to think about, notice and reflect on during the Yin practice adds a dimension that many "guides" are lacking. A great resource for the yoga student and instructor!

Yin Yoga-what I have been looking for!
This is the first Yoga book that gives me all the details/options/pictures needed to learn each pose, which is helping me tremendously. I love reading her feelings/thoughts and the history provided behind her practice. I have been able to incorporate this on a nightly basis one step at a time.
